It seems that all you can find out there are sites for either left wing idiots or right wing idiots. They basically preach to the choir, only present "facts" (often not very factual) that support their groupthink agenda, and spend their energy trying to tear down people they disagree with in insulting ways rather than providing stimulating discussion.

Are there any sites out there that are non-partisan, encourage constructive discussion/debate without the insults and garbage, and where actual ideas are more important than who's side is winning?

Come to think of it, the political scene itself is becoming more like this too. Unfotunately, while the internet is democratic and brings people together, it's also very polarizing and drives people apart. Chalk it up in the "unintended consequences" column.

Nope, all the fringe players, both left and right, eventually invade there and it's back to the same crap.

Jaymeister ... I'm looking for the same. I guess my search criteria is going to be something like "non-partisan discussion group". I'll try it and if I find anything, I'll be right back, edit my answer, and then meet you there. Thanks for a good question.

Yes, that worked. There will be many good search results with that search criteria I suggested.

Let me offer a few of my favorites....

http://www.pajamasmedia.com - News aggregate blog with contributers the world over from left, right, and center.

http://www.instapundit.com - Centrist blogger, widely consider 'The Blogfather" More links than analysis, but links to all sides of the blogosphere.

http://www.blackfive.net - GREAT Milblogger. Often colorful language.

http://fallbackbelmont.blogspot.com/ - One of the best analysis blogs out there. Wretchard is a former Foreign Service man with very wide-ranging expertise.

http://www.ejectejecteject.com - Essayist widely considered one of the finest writers in the blogosphere. Right-Wing, but REALLY excellent. I don't see a lot of 'bashing' there.

Hope these are of interest to you!

No. Non-partisan sites normally die from lack of interest or vicious left/right flame fests.

To be part of this world you do not need to take sides...but have to listen and watch everyone or be Robinson Crusoe if I am right?
