I'm trying to seperate the truth from the lies that this marine recruiter keeps telling me. He's saying that if I do good on my asvab, qualify for a certain non combat job, sign the MOS contract for that not combat related job, get placed in that job, and do good in all the education and advanced training for that job, and keep everything else in good standing with the military, it is illegal for the military to transfer me to infantry if I don't want to go into infantry because they will be in breach of the contract. And I don't have to do occupation that I didn't originally sign up for if I keep everything else in good standing with the military. Is this true? All my friends say that after the advanced training, even if you are already in a specific job, that the military can take you out of your current occupation and place you in another occupation if they need to? What's fact and what's fiction? Are my friends confused or is the marine recruiter lieing to me?

Here in Europe most of us think Bush policies are so wrong and endangering the entire world. We also find strange how he could get re-elected. But what does the normal citizen think in the US? The tax payer, the parents and the regular Joe? Please share your thoughts with me. Thank you.

right now. My dad is an alcoholic and a composive gambler. He is retired and they have good sources of income from his pension as well as their social security, but he's a compulsive alcoholic and gambler. Just this month he had $14,000 deposited into his checking account, we don't know from where, but it's all gone now. Their house is paid off so he could be drawing money from their equity. their also have an IRA account with some $40,000 in in but it may not be that much there anymore. My mom's sick of this and wants out but she's afraid of everything. I'm afraid of taking her in because she's very negative and she drains me emotionally. I don't want her problem to hurt me and my marriage and children. She can't be taught how to live productively, I tried. What can I do LEGALLY as a child to help them without hurting myself in the process? BTW, they were abusive to me when I was young, my dad for being an irresponsible ****** and my mom for not knowing any better. Help me.

Do you think that it is a subtle attempt to bring prejudice and uneasiness about Milt Romney's religion (Mormon) into the campaign?

I don't smoke, but plenty of my friends do. Why not legalize small ammounts, do away with drug testing on the job, and allow people to buy it for medical purposes? It just seems like common sense.

I have a biology project, and i'm a little stuck. I'm NOT asking you to give me any answers, but i'm interested in your two cents.

Here is a fictitious situation: there's one liver and three EQUALLY WELL MATCHED candidates, a rich man, age 68, a poor single mother of three little kids, 24, and a 3rd year med student, 25.

What criteria should be used to decide who gets the liver? (i thought it's unethical to decide based on age, gender, or race) Based on this, who should get the liver?

I guess at first thought you may want to give the single mother the liver, i did too, but give it a little more thought. whats your reason to? You don't know any of these people.
For all you know, the single mother could be a drug addict. Maybe, maybe not. The Med student could drop out of school anytime. You don't know. The old guy could be the CEO of a company, if he kicks the bucket, what'll happen to the buisness?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions. =D

I have a friend in her mid-20's who teaches developmental classes at a nearby university. She has been battling cancer for a while and has gone through several rounds of chemo. Obviously she's doing okay if she's able to be in a classroom, but with the chemo her immune system is currently somewhat compromised. The situation I'm asking about is this. One of her students brought her daughter to class. About halfway through class, she tells the room that the daughter is there because her school (or daycare, not clear on that) believed she had a contagious illness (either chicken pox or measles, not clear on that either). Dr. Mom, however, didn't believe anything was wrong with little Typhoid Mary and brought her to class. Today I heard my friend was in the hospital with whichever contagious illness it was. Is there any legal action that can be taken against the mother (paying medical bills or the like) since she knowingly brought the sick child into the classroom? Just curious.
