All of this "republican vs democrat trash" is fed every two years by elections. The candidates themselves trash each other and we just follow their lead. I usually only vote for candidates who do the best job of staying away from Jerry Springer politics.

I back JJCash's answer. A viable third party will be the only way how to stop them. All of you who are fed up with listening to the duopoly fighting, support any viable third party like the Green, Libertarian or Constiution parties or support an independent. I'm certainly into the idea of supporting a Tancredo/ Paul ticket running as a third party unity ticket (Libertarians and Constitutionalists) because I think there's a good chance a third party unity ticket can happen. I've voted 3rd party and have felt OK with it because voting is a precious right and you should take advantage of it. Do you know what can make the 08 election hotter? If third parties use the Internet and use podcasts, Youtube ads, blogs or other things to attract that 1/3 of the Americans that are independent. Even if the media doesn't give them ebough coverage, third parties could have the net and we could see great stuff happening. Thanks!

Which ever way you look at it, it is a matter of the working man fighting for a human existence. 95% of the wealth of any Western country is in the hands of 3% of the population. You really want to give up? You really think that Bush, Gates, Buffett, Soros or even Oprah would give you the smell of their money? When is the last time your employer said you were worth more money and backed up his words with a generous supply of lucre so that you don't have to worry about your health? Admittedly, it is useless to expect either political party to do anything for you.
Bring on the Revolution.

That's the name of the game! I don't know why its done, but you have to have some reason of why you are better than the other one so I guess since there really isn't all that much difference, they just do it to make everyone think they are different & are going to do things so much better than the other side.
It won't stop, what else can they do to win your vote? They have to make the others seem worse than they are so you have the name calling, finger pointing etc.

If we could all agree that the Democrats and Republicans both suck and are both parties that represent the interests of the wealth elite we would be on the right path. The class warfare that both parties wage against the working class in this country will prevent any uniting of our society. Divide and conquer is their motto and they know exactly how and why that motto works.

It's much, much easier for politicians to cry, whine, complain, name call, throw tantrums and pick fights than to actually do their jobs. Seriously. It sounds flip, but it's a fact of life. Stalemate is easy. One big benefit of stalemate for politicians is that you usually don't upset anyone if you throw up your hands all day and say "the job could be getting done if it wasn't for THEM!"

With stalemate, the politician gets to do nothing, blame someone else, and perhaps be celebrated as a "warrior for the cause"...while the whole country starts deteriorating (things begin to seize up if you don't keep them maintained). The whole "government as sport" dynamic requires two sides...a thrid one, at this time, in our nation, would BLOW UP the entire "us or them" construct.

So the solution is a viable thrid party. It can happen. I strongly suspect that it will...sooner than many people think possible. If you or anyone else is interested in the history of political parties or in theories behind the development of a new moderate party, I'd be happy to give examples.

Lastly, there's a good-hearted yet kinda lame organization called "Unity '08". They're trying to nominate a "fusion' ticket for President, but in my opinion their methodology is flawed. But you might want to take a look: (Just don't sign up as a "delegate" unless you want to get hounded with A LOT of email.) http://www.unity08.com

Wouldn't it be great to see ONE election conducted in a respectful and mature fashion, where the candidates each acknowledge the others attributes, disagree with one an others priority's, and presented there ideology's and ideas in a candid ,cordial, and social way, to those of us who are to vote..?

I have never seen an election where the final months haven't become slander-fests, pissing contests, bad-mouth matches, closet raiding, fault flinging, fact twisters.... i am ashamed of all of them by the time the poles open...i dint want to waist my vote on the best dirt-digger of the lot...which is about all there is left when it get down to the wire, these days.

We've needed to do that for years but we won't. The blame game is the longest game ever played in history...it's been going on since the cave people were around...Someone walked out of the cave to get some food...and was killed by a falling rock...and the rest of the cave people fought over who's fault it was that they poor person walked out of the cave at that moment.

I do agree with you. I want to hear more about what the candidate plans to do to help our country! I don't want to hear that so & so did this or that 30 years ago while in college I don't want to hear the dirty little family secrets. I want facts! If we do get a Third party then the mud slinging will just inlcude the three party's.

because the system would not allow you to change it without the advise and consent of Congreess...Supreme Court and the President of the United Sates...this three levels of Gov't is used to prevent a dictator to take over like Hiter did in '33 ..in Nazi Germany..first Hitler was elected then he just took over all power but it was done all legal and proper.
