It seems cut and dry to me. Iran has made comments about Israel's right to exist and that they should be wiped off the face of the map. Could someone explain to me how Iran could thinik that Israel is not going to do the same to them as they did to Iraq. It seems to me like a fact. Iran has to know that they will be forced to stop sooner or later. Is it that they just don't care? Or could they really believe they are able to hold their own in a fight with Israel? Am I missing something?

The war on poverty has been going on now for over forty years. The US Government has spent trillions of dollars on social programs over the course of this war and we still have poor people. Wouldn't it be a good idea to admit defeat in the war on poverty and devert these funds to our troops?

What happened to that? If she did not get that working, how does she think she could be a president for all of USA. She knows nothing about Army, Navy, etc. A woman for president? No way.

Robert Byrd

Long-time opponent of the war in Iraq, Senator Robert Byrd, recently remarked about Bush’s troop surge plan:

“At the outset of this war, the Bush administration believed, apparently, that democracy could be exported through the barrel of a gun. That belief was wrong then; it is wrong today. Twenty thousand more troops won’t make it right.”

almost 2 yrs ago, i had surgery.
ins. overpaid dr who wrote me a check saying they had covered all. dr knew it was error.
18 mos. later ins found error and billed dr for overage.(18 mos is legal for the ins.) it's almost 2 yrs now and dr is billing me for return of the money the he gave me stating it was a refund of my deposit based on the ins payment. but since he knew the ins had overpd in the beginning (if he'd told me i'd have refused the money) can he legally bill me for return of the money he gave me?
he accepted the ins check, knowing it was overage, as payment for his services. now that the ins has found mistake and wants the excess returned, he is demanding that i return the money he gave me, $1700+, almost 2 years ago. he's actually a very good dr and seems to be a good person. i'd love to pay it back but can't afford to. can he legally bill me for money he gave to me knowing it was based on an error, almost 2 yrs later?if you don't know, do you know where i can find out?

What do you think of this idea?

Every year, when you are paying your taxes, there would be a sheet with a list of all government departments/programs. Every department and program would have a check box next to it. Taxpayers could check off the programs and departments they wished to fund, and choose what percentages of their taxes go to those programs.

For example, a war supporter could choose to give 70% of his taxes to the military, and 30% to transportation. Another citizen might choose to give 0% to the military, and 100% to environmental protection. This way, government spending would truly reflect the will of the taxpayers.

Under this plan, you'd still have to pay taxes, but you'd get to directly choose how they were spent. What do you think of this idea? Do you think it would be good, or is this "too much" democracy?

Please add your political affiliation (Republican, liberal, communist, moderate ...whatever fits you) with your answer. Detailed answers are best!

Hello. I have been chatting online for some time to a man who was born in Iraq to parents who are Turkish/Iraq citizens. He is currently living in Egypt in exile from Iraq. He wants to visit the USA as a tourist or to possibly work as a tennis instructor or interpreter. How difficult is it for him to do either of these? This is just a friendship - there are no plans to get a visa for him via marriage or engagement. Thanks in advance!
