When deployed to a combat zone for more than 90 days then you earn your combat patch whether you leave the camp or base or dont leave it in order to patrol your sector. The Infantry soldier is the man on the ground walking and patroling his sector in a face to face contact with the enemy. All soldiers are combat soldiers but not all soldiers are Infantry.
