We've made it too easy to get on welfare and too easy to stay on welfare. We are giving the man the fish and he only eats for a day. We should be teaching the man to fish and throwing him at the end of the dock to make him do it.

No. The USA social programs should not stop but need to be revamped. People are hired based on education, a degree in social work, before these social workers are hired, we should find out what their background is and how they view the poor. Are the applicants judgmental? Do they view poverty stricken people as just a bunch of lazy, alcoholic, druggie people. Yes, sure there are some people that use our social programs to feed their bad habits, but there are also people out there thru no fault of their own need the hand up, not hand out, to get thru the rough times. Our laws need to reflect our ability to understand those who are actually having a hard time making ends meet, not just categorizing eveyone into on slot. We NEED to make laws and s.o.p.s that really help the needy. Not everyone is created that same therefore not all situations fit the same box.

What the government needs to do is what i have said in a previous post: provide for what the market cannot provide for. Whereas: the US has tried to win the war on poverty but the government has been unsuccessful, but since privatizing is a very effective method of success, they should privatize the welfare programs. Instead of the Federal government doing it, they would contract it out to smaller groups who can better interact with the community and therefore solve the problem, not have people feed off it.

We're spending spit on social programs. Why not declare war on the real causes of poverty. Like corporate raiding and sending jobs over seas and destruction of the middle class.
BTW, I sincerely hope you are being sarcastic.

No, maybe we should spend the money from the war on people in our own country.

Because we support them, we should send them home. Because we care.
We support the workers, not their mission, so send them all home, and we will redeploy them
