Who put out the fire under the melting pot? Its obvious that immigrants of today are not assimilating like the immigrants who came during the great wave. We would probably be speaking German right now if we treated todays immigrants the same as the immigrants from the 20's. I would have asked my question like this; Warum nicht die anpassenden Immigranten sind, wie sie zu verwendeten. It has been predicted that in 50 years the predominate language in the US will be Spanish. How could this happen if we held them to the same standards as immigrants from the 20's? If we did, there wouldn't be schools using bilingual education (Spanish and English), there wouldn't be multi million dollar tv stations like telemundo and univision, and we certainly wouldn't have towns like El Cenizo, TX that conducts all town business in Spanish. So why is this happening if we don't have a double standard? Who decided that we would give Hispanic immigrants this preferential treatment.

Do you think that terrorists that die for Jihad and Martyrdom really Martyrs or are they just murderers? Jesus Christ was a Martyr, I thought a martyr was someone who sacrifices THEMSELVES for a cause, not someone who takes out 20 innocent people with them, that is a murderer in my book. Sorry.

When did the USA and Britain Become allies???? I know during the civil war they wanted to help the South and even as recently as 1901 some British politicians wanted to invade the "colonies". So when did the Brits become our best ally???? And is there still a sentiment that we are thier colonies to them, and some Brits who still want to invade us?

should the u.s. constitution and bill of rights protect everyone? Is it ever o.k. to strip a human of their rights and not afford them the same equal rights of protection and fairness as afforded by the above mentioned?

I am an immigrant and I am very confused of what I really think of me and my fellow immigrants. Sometimes I feel like we shouldnt be here but in other times I feel like we have a right just like everyone else in the entire country even know some of us are not suppose to be here. Sometimes I feel like American citizens are trying to give us a guilt trip and by having only speak English laws that they are trying to beat the immigrant out of us. But any opinion counts.

One of two things is going to happen...we win...or we lose. If we decide to pull out and go without securing Iraqi freedom then there will be a real civil war in Iraq. Not the pretend civil war that the American press is now promoting but a real civil war that will be not unlike the purges of the 1930s. Many of our regional partners will be challenged. So...what is the plan? Many are calling for a withdrawal....to those and others....let's hear what our Statement of US strategic interests should be for the next administration..will we even have one? For those that don't know..this is how nations tell each other what is important and could cause conflict.

This president thinks that the war is winnable. He also proclaimed victory 2 months after it started, but that's old news.

It's almost four years since this war started and there's no end in sight with the upcoming surge in troop levels. Iraqi civilians and American soldiers are killed every day, but for what? At what point can you or the president say the US military is winning or won the war? And, to Americans, in the Military or not, what is the gain?

I have heard from a source that a certain city in the U.S. is close or may have already made a way for people with picture phones to send images to 911 sevices. What does this mean to the public? If it is happening, it will make every citizen a police. What a bout the blackmail factor? Our technology is becoming our warden. I love technology. If I didn't I wouldn't be here. but I am almost terrorfied of all the things that will come in the coming years while comsumerism is using the imagination to sell products. The quest for money is rapidly closing doors and tightining our Beautiful spacious skies. Our search for securtiy is robbing us of our security. Personally, I don't want a person hanging me with a picturephone and photoshop. Thats my opinion, Whats yours?

Scientists in India are not treated like that in developed countries, they are not provided enough facilities, they are not free to work as there are various pressures from society and the masses pay more recognition to a men working in some public relation office like police, judiciary, bureaucrats etc. Still we work to our maximum potential but again our promotion oppurtunities are clouded under political interference and scientific manpower in unfortunately managed by ignorant politicians and bureaucrats---------highly unfortunate----------India has to rise to these problems ----otherwise we will lead nowhere??????????
