It absolutely has. The true enemy was and is the terrorists. Not Iraq. They had nothing to do with 9-11 and they were not a threat to the U.S. Now we have taken away resources ( men and money) and placed them in Iraq, thus emboldening the enemy. The invasion and occupation of Iraq has also been a recruiting tool for the terrorists. There are now more terrorists than ever before hating the U.S.
Not only that, in 2003 when we attacked Iraq, we attacke a country with a population the size of California. They had no military to speak of. No WMD's. No air force, no Navy. etc. Now, nearly 4 years later, we are still there and still fighting. It makes the U.S. look really bad as we are supposed to be a super power.
It was a mistake and it has proved to be over and over.

I believe that it might have made them even madder and have concentrated a lot of Islamic Militants in Iraq but they were already emboldened. Look at 9/11, if that wasn't bold I don't know what is. And BTW, I am not suggesting that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11.

I do NOT think invading Iraq emboldened the enemy. They were already a little crazy. Those people want to kill us. What is so difficult to understand about that???

I'd say they (read - Islamic Terrorists) were fairly emboldened long before invading Iraq.

Well, it might be like the old saying about not knowing just how smart someone is until they open their mouths, that removes all doubts. I don't know if that's exactly how it was said but it's close enough. I'm getting too old to remember.

No I dont.
That would be contrary to common sense.
What emboldens the enemy is when they see you ask weak, when they see they can get away with whatever they want.
-- Kelly B and whoever else is thumb's downing people you obviously dont know who the enemy is. Its not the Iraqi's and your example is flawed.

I do!
If a country of the world came to the United States and "liberated" us from Bush we would all be revolting also!
We are not the only way!
We do not have any business telling other countries how to live!

I do not. I think taking Saddam out left Iraq wide open to terrorism. Now we have to deal with the terrorists. But they were kind of bold already.

I don't.
I think if we had failed to respond as we did, then the enemy would have been emboldened.
