I just don’t understand the mentality that accepts such movies as “An Inconvenient Truth”, ”The Day After Tomorrow”, “Fahrenheit 911”, or their favorite “The Eternal Jew” as fact. Surely they know these are works of fiction?

Are their handlers able to work them up so much with hate that they accept these obvious absurdities as true?

If everyone thinks the president is doing such a crummy job, why aren't there more people out there running for president then? stop complaining, unless you are going to DO something about it rather than whining. You know why people don't want to be president? because NO MATTER WHAT decisions they make, there is going to be SOME group of people who hate it. We need less complainers and more socially active people in our country. lazy americans.

Aren't President Bush (set on building a NAFTA Superhighway) & Texas governor Rick Perry (who plans a Trans-Texas Corridor) both land-grabbers for the rich?! The plans seem to be to get cheap Mexican labor together with cheap Canadian natural resources for the sake of big business profits. I've read it will cause wages in the USA to PLUMMET. Also, it seems that the land in Texas (& elsewhere?!) will be snatched up, ripping it away from local families and making it available for sale or lease to others, for gas stations, hotels, diners, etc., along the route. In Texas, NO community seems to be clamoring to have this highway, and it will eat up lots of valuable farm & ranch land (-- like 4 football fields wide in some areas). (- Fumes!!)
At the borders, the plan is to only electronically inspect massive numbers of inbound trucks, it seems. Who cares about citizens' rights or the need for national security when rich politicians & business cronies make BIG $$$. Stomp it !!

alright, i know i have asked a couple questions about having children with my boyfriend. and yes thats all he is, we have been dating for, just going on 6 years. for what reason do we need a peice of paper to consider us "married" when we have been together for so long, and its just as easy to seperate if we ever do get married. it just bothered me, that 2 people that answered me past question told me to get married first...woulden't that be our decision?

Politics can be seen as "applied philosophy," which means they depend on a philosophical basis. Yet most people reduce politics to issues, without paying any attention to the patterns and goals behind and in front of such issues.

How can a democracy work when the average citizen fails to see politics for what it really is, the real-world interface of some basic philosophies? And, what can be done to educate people so that they don't vote only based on issues but learn to see the "big picture"?

I received a ticket on a clear morning. I was traveling a highway that I haven't driven on before. I was heading to an appointment & was running quite early. As I was driving along the 3 laned highway in the left lane (for a short amount of time) & I saw signs that the lane was ending in 100'. There were a few cars to my right & I figured the lane was going to end soon, so I speed up to pass the cars to my right so I would be able to merge without causing any problems. Right as I was making that decision, a black car (looked like a taxi) roared up to my bumper. I got really scared. I could barely see the headlights. Since I got scared of what might happen, I hit the gas & quickly got over. The car followed me over into the lane & I freaked out. As soon as I was going to get over to the right lane, the unmarked cop car's lights went on, which surprised me, I was 100% positive it was a cab. Ticket was for "65+" in a 55. Was having car problems(fuel injectors were BAD)at the time.
