First, realize that it was JFK's brother Bobby that helped bring down the crisis. To answer your question, yes. Bush or Clinton would have taken too long. Politicians today, couldn't stand up to the ones we had 40 years ago and previous.

History shows that the tepid response of JFK to the Bay of Pigs caused the missile crisis.
By not supporting the liberation of Cuba and over throwing Castro, the Russians had little respect for the president.
Hoping to make inroads into this hemisphere they supplied Castro with missiles for his defense against a future attack.
Kennedy was no god and like most presidents inexperienced when first placed into office.

If Bush had been president during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the world would be a very different and barren place. You can bet he would have had his finger on the button for a first strike against the Soviet Union.

I think Bush would have responded in much the same way as JFK, show the Soviets we mean business and that we will not let them put missiles in Cuba. I think Hillary would have been less confrontational and probably would have allowed Soviet missiles in Cuba to prevent the possible war over prevention of missiles in Cuba (JFK definitely risked war by preventing the Soviets from putting missiles in Cuba). Allowing nuclear missiles in Cuba would have been a serious strategic blunder, but I don't think it would have resulted in war. I believe in the end the result would be the same but the Soviet's opinion of us would have been different. JFK basically told them that we will not be pushed around, Hillary would have allowed us to be pushed around, thus damaging our image around the world.

It wouldn't have mattered in the slightest. If it had been up to JFK, we WOULD have gone nuclear. Only the common sense of -get this!- ***Kruschev*** kept this world safe from a nuclear war. THAT is something the history books like to gloss over.

Had it been Bush, there would have been a nookulur war. Had it been Hillary, Florida would have been deeded to Cuba as reparations for the Spanish American War and the "illegal" occupation of Gitmo.

Like JFK was such a saint! Ever hear of the "Bay of Pigs" fiasco? I don't like Hillary much and I support Bush, but both of them would have done exactly the same thing.

do you really think bush is that stupid? and pick a side. First of all Hillary Clinton has no chance of being president. Second of all both people are incapable of declaring nuclear war without congressional consent, the president wouldn't plunge us into nuclear war. he cant be that stupid.

if hillary was... she would have invited the Soviet Union to come take us over and would have eliminated our army...
Do me a favor... go look at the people president clinton pardoned...After Roger Clinton, Bill's half brother, was charged with drunk driving and disorderly conduct in 2 seperate occasions, Bill granted him amnesty. Carlos Vignali and Almon Glenn Basswell both paid Hillary's brother, Hugh Rodman, $200,000 to defend them. After both lost their cases and were sent to prison, President Clinton took office and granted them amnesty!!! Wow tapping each other on the back!!
Don't frget the whitewater scandal, where everyone but Bill and Hillary got sent to prison b/c they were friends with the prosecutor. And later they pardoned their friends.
President Clinton cut soldirrs wages and many needed to go on food stamps. His policy of no loaded guns on navy ships led to the USS Cole bombing.
We all know of Monica, Bill's under the table lover :)... but have any of you heard of over the 30 other incidents of Bill committing sexual assualt. Eileen Wellstone, a 19 year old accused Bill of sexually assualting her near a pub in Oxford. In 1972 Yale campus police had a report of Bill assualting a 22 year old girl. During Bill's first term as govenor, he had over 9 complaints to state troopers about him sexually assualting women. Paula Corbin filed sexual assualt charges against Bill and he paid her $850,000 to keep it quiet.
A FBI agent named Coleen Rowley, along with some newsweek articles, claimed that the FBI asked for a warrent to invade a believed terrorists house. When they got ready, President Clinton stopped the warrent. This suspected terrorist was later on one of the planes that hit the twin towers on 9/11....IT COULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED!!!!!!!!!
President clinton also pardoned a senator, named Melvin J. Reynold, after he was convicted of bank fraud, 12 counts of sexual assualt, obstruction of justice and some other smaller crimes.
CLINTON IS A BUMMMMMM
