The ineffectiveness of the "course" is what's angering most!
How much longer should this "course" take?
Did the military strategist really not factor in insurgents?
Are 21,000 troops really going to be enough to effect a change?

seems like the democratic party has embraced so many liberal causes over the years that they lost the working man mentality..the nomination will probably go to hillary or obama, neither of which i believe can win..even with the problems in the republican party....the country is not ready for a woman who shifts positions as needed, nor a young inexperienced black man...

Apart from Harold Wilson, who said a simple "No" the the request for British troops in Vietnam, every single British PM since WW2 acts as if they worked for the US government, rather than the British people, and agrees to every demand. While we are grateful to the US for the help they gave us in WW2, how long before this notional debt is repaid ? When can we get up off our knees ?

Or is there some other secret obligation or agreement, about which we know nothing, which ties us to this foreign continent half a world away ? Apparently we have to buy Trident from them, but are not allowed to use is without their permission - does anyone know what's going on ? Answers from both sides welcome.

I'm moving in with a friend, but it may not happen because of issues with laws. They say they have to get a lawyer and go to court and have my mother's house inspected before they can give custody to my friend's parents? My mother's perfectly okay with all this because moving in with them will give me a chance to go to a great school in a different state, but we don't know the details and it probably won't happen if there's all that to worry about.
So what are the actual rules about this kind of thing?

Since Bill has served 2 terms with his wife by his side. Do you believe that the term limitations should or should not apply in this case? The purpose of this term limitation would to insure the presidential office is not abused. It would seem to me this law needs to be re-written to include situations like this. It should be written such that no husband and wife are allowed to serve more than 2 terms as President. I just think there is a stong potential for abuse since she has been in this situation before.

Any thoughts?

This is what he said he would do in the 2000 debates with Gore.
"If we don't have a clear vision of the military, if we don't stop extending our troops all around the world and nation building missions, then we're going to have a serious problem coming down the road, and I'm going to prevent that. I'm going to rebuild our military power. It's one of the major priorities of my administration. "

If people were forced (hypothetically...before all the human rights people jump down my throat) to have only 1 child per couple, that would effectively reduce the population within a few generations. Would this help reduce Global warming?

"Former Rep. Bob Ney was sentenced Friday to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for trading political favors for gifts and campaign donations from lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

"Ney, the first congressman ensnared in the lobbying scandal, pleaded guilty in October to conspiracy and making false statements. He admitted being corrupted by golf trips, tickets, meals and campaign donations from Abramoff." (yahoo news)

It goes on to say:

"The gifts Ney received ranged from a trip to Scotland bankrolled by Abramoff's clients to thousands of dollars in gambling chips that Ney got on two overseas junkets from foreign businessman Fouad al-Zayat, a Syrian-born aviation company owner in Cyprus."

Is this an isolated incident? Was the sentence too harsh, or not enough? And what is a Republican doing parading with a Syrian?

This isn't a baited question, so I'm not going for your choice in the party you may or may not support. It just seems like something is going wrong in the Republican party.

"postscript..... Congress voted OVERWHELMINGLY to go into Iraq... even Sen. Clinton voted YES...... so blaming the Pres just doesn't work for me...... he wasn't alone in the decision. "

This was posted by another user and I am upset that people make such claims without any proof such as a link.
