If so, why are you against letting him Surge into Iraq which will finally hang him in the political sense?

Barak Hussein Obama was born to a radical Muslim (terrorist)father and an athiest mother.
Newsweek: Have you read the Qur'an? Obama: I can’t say that I have read all of it.

Newsweek: Have you read enough of it to have an opinion as to whether Islam is what the 14th-century Byzantine emperor said in his argument that it was, in other words, a religion of violent conquest? Obama: I think there are so many different interpretations of Islam as there are so many different interpretations of Christianity, that to somehow fix or define a religion based on one particular reading of the text is a mistake.

I believe Mr. Obama is a muslim, he has had islamic teaching. Islamic teaching also states that it's ok to lie or even deny Islam. The term in Arabic is called Taqiyya. Obama 'claims' to be a Christian, but my question is what type of 'Christian'? Does he accept the Deity of Jesus Christ? Many groups who claim to be Christians deny Christ's Deity and infact are very close to Islam.

Osama Bin Laden has been quoted as saying America should have muslim leaders, Iran's President has invited Bush to become muslim. All of Europe is infested with a mob of islamo-fascists. I believe Mr.Obama's presidental run is the islamic worlds attempt to have a muslim in the white house by 2012!

Why is it that communism, practiced on anything other than a small scale (such as Jewish kibbutzim or tribal societies), seems to inevitably lead to authoritarianism?

A Muslim electronics engineer who developed five patents for IBM claims the computer maker fired him because of his religion and that managers at the company mocked him for refusing to eat during the Ramadan fast and once told him to ignore Islamic law and clean a knife that had been used to cut pork.
Mahmoud Mousa, who calls himself a "Jordanian Muslim American," was employed at IBM's microelectronics plant in Burlington, Vt., from June 2003 to December 2005, when he was fired because of his religious beliefs, according to a lawsuit Mousa filed last month in U.S. District Court in New York.

Look at ideaman's rather dramatic response to this question. He says that in order to stop terrorism, our ONLY option is to kill ALL muslims in all nations.

Can anyone else get behind this? What would you do if you heard a candidate for public office speaking this way?

By and large, government payments (or any payments) encourage behavior, and taxes discourage it.

Some have said that social welfare programs - aid to families with dependent children, etc. - has the effect of "encouraging" lack of work and unwed parenthood. Even FDR said that welfare can have "narcotic effects." (Although I would hope that everyone would favor help for the "truly needy" - but how do we define that?) Therefore it's possible to say that welfare can encourage behvior that society disfavors.

So my question is, what behavior does "corporate welfare" (such as tax credits tied to oil companies' exploration efforts) encourage? And what behaviors would removing these credits discourage?

Is one system rewarding work and effort, and the other discouraging it?

"The president does not have the authority to launch military action in Iran without first seeking congressional authorization," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told the National Press Club.

This is completely false. The President DOES have the authority to attack Iran. The Democrats could say that they wouldn't support an attack on Iran or that they would stop funding or that they would try to impeach Bush but instead they chose to lie.

About whether or not people believe 100% in what their political party stands for.

Every single answerer said that they don't, and that it would essentially be unrealistic to do so.

If that's the case, why is there so much partisanship going on out there? I don't personally understand why our current elected officials all seem to have the attitude that success of their party is more important than the success of the nation.

Is this just a trick of the mind that the media is playing on us? Or do you think they really feel that way? Do you really think that 50% of America feels the same way, or are we all just so insecure that taking up the party line makes us feel better?

I'd love to hear input from all sides, but please keep it polite.

I know a young mom who wrote a check to Walmart because she expected certain funds to be deposited before they cashed the check. The funds were late arriving, so her check was returned for insufficient funds. The other store she went to, Mervyns, re-cashed the check she wrote there and it went through. Wal-mart didn't even try to re-cash the check, filed a criminal charge, and now the lady has to pay double, attend a Saturday morning class (and she has four children-same father-without weekend childcare), and her husband is out of work due to having been accused of a crime he didn't commit, and has been removed from the home by CPS rules. This is the first time she has had this problem. She won't have the amount the DA wants until after the first of the month...which is after her deadline.
