The USA and Canada have comparable numbers of guns per capita, but the USA has far more gun violence per capita than Canada. How do you explain this phenomenon?

This question is intentionally broad.

Ethical considerations aside - does war (historically speaking) typically achieve the policy goals outlined by the side that starts it?

And please don't over-generalize perceptions of current events.

Some people claim that Israel is a productive country.

For decades, Israel has been eagerly accepting billions of dollars in handouts per year. Historically, it has been far more grant than loan. And even their loans get red carpet treatment because they get loans at a much lower interest rate than do other countries. I want them to repay us for all we gave to them--including all grant payments we made to them.

(Regarding the Yahoo news article here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070114/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_iraq)

The man who claims he has a "new" plan to once again send more troops to Iraq and who is supposed to act on behalf of the people of our country "said he has the authority to act no matter what Congress wants," according to the news article above. Congress is filled with representatives of THE PEOPLE of the U.S., and a majority of congresspersons oppose what Bush refers to as a "new" plan in Iraq, which is obviously the same old strategy started after the hideous Operation Shock and Awe ended (i.e., unlimited buildup of troops and unlimited spending).

Bush undoubtedly believes, as he's done in the past, that he can challenge Congress as he is now doing and Congress will back down. Isn't it time Congress does it's job to show our drunk-with-power president that he does NOT have exclusive and unlimited powers as president of the United States?

I am writing a report and my teacher wants to know what the purpose of the exam. This was what I wrote....
The Law for the "Protection of Genetic Health of the German People" soon took place. It required all people wanting to marry to submit to a medical assessment, after which a "Certificate of Fitness to Marry" would be issued if they were free of diseases. The certificate was required for a marriage license.

Martin Luther King did not have as much an impact on America as his predecessors because the people that came before him had bigger challenges than those of racial equality. Just because Martin Luther King focused on racial equality doesn't mean he was any better than the civil rights leaders before him. I praise Martin Luther King for what he did, but the people became him paved the way for him and had much more of an effect on Civil Rights in America than MLK did. So, do you AGREE or DISAGREE?

It's no secret that Bush's big "surge" will include Najaf as well as Baghdad. Najaf is alSadr/s town, And they have had plenty of time to prepare. The "surge" will likely include "door to door" searches for insurgents and militia. Already the U.S. is warning that this 'surge" will be "bloody". And although many Iraqis will likely die, so too will U.S troops. I want to understand why we in the U.S. are allowing such a blind incursion towards death for our soldiers.
Why are we allowing this? Why?
(and please do not compare to other 'wars' because this is not our war to fight. It has developed into a civil war between factions. It is not a war on terror in Iraq. U.S. soldiers are dying in a crossfire between factions. )
I truly hope that this will be

Bush and his Republicans are sounding like parrots again which is a sure sign of Karl Rove at work.

Magically, they want a Democratic alternative that escalates the War in Iraq.
Yeah, that is what this challenge is about.

Well, thanks Mr. Hove but no thanks. We tend to have a problem with your dictates.

America has already sacrificed enough and watched the situation get worse. It is not going to work Mr. Bush.

Why don't you tell us exactly what your real plan is for the Middle East?

We can take it, or we can leave it. It is called Democracy. You know, when the leader earns the publics support.

In the Original document the "Statement of the creation of the State of Israel it states the following,
The state of Israel willbe open for Jewish immigration and for the ingathering of the exiles! it will foster the developement of the country for the benifit of "ALL" it,s inhabitants! it will be based on freedom, justice, and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel! it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to "ALL" it,s inhabitants!irrespective of religion, race ,or sex! etc etc.
Now try to equate that with the fact that 99% of the Arab Israeli citizens are not allowed to serve in the military. This fact on its own is minimal were it not for the fact that there are generous benifits for ex vets.
In the area of Education there is discrimination as Israeli jewish students have access to approximately ten times more funds than do their Arab Israeli students. Note they both carry Israeli citizenship.
There is no written constitution in israel.

In June of last year, nearly $650 million to increase scrutiny of containers shipping into Seattle and every other U.S. port was stripped out of a national security funding package.

Opponents said it was too expensive.

Currently, only about 5 percent of U.S.-bound containers are inspected.

Smaller container ships carry between 4,500 - 6,500 containers, and the newer ones carry about 15,000.

Each year, more than 7,500 commercial vessels make approximately 51,000 port calls, off-loading 6 million loaded marine containers in U.S. ports. Current growth predictions indicate the container cargo will quadruple in the next 20 years.
