My sister and her finace are charged with capital murder. Our family vowed not to intrude in justice. I am dying inside, I need to know how she is doing.

In general, people arrested are held in the jail operated by that city / county / region (several small towns or counties may operate a regional jail to provide more support facilities for the inmates and to reduce the overall operating costs).

You can write to them (expect your letter to be opened to ensure you are not trying to smuggle anything inside).

And they may be allowed to call you (calls may have someone listening in, and they may be recorded).

Send a letter to the detention center. Be very careful as to what you say. All letters are censored and will be returned to you if the corrections officer detects what he or she sees as inflammatory or threatening. DO NOT include any smokes or something as benign as even a pencil or book. It will be returned to you. Best Wishes.

i don't see why you can't have contact with your family, even if they are charged with a crime.

you can try to write to them and just assume that your letter will be opened and read before it is passed along to them.

hope this helps...
