Several countries, including Australia have compulsory voting in elections whereby non-voters are fined. Should this be introduced in the UK in conjunction with a "none of the above" option on the ballot that is counted and officially recorded as abstentions?

Hey there.

I'm thinking about going into the Air Force Academy via ROTC, but I'm kind concerned about the fact that I'm not quite the fittest person out there.

For example, I'm pretty good at most sports, but not good at just one, and I can't play at school due to me having to work. I can do a mile in about 9-10. Push-ups don't look so good, but sit-ups are competitive numbers.

I know that the military wants fitness, but is this the kind of "kill yourself hard" fitness that I saw when those Marines came to our school? Or is the AF less strict about that? I really don't know and am in the process of looking for advice.

So, if anyone could advise me about this, or provide me with a good website where I can find out real info, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi, I need help with a research for local and federal laws of video surveillance, describe what they say about the rights of a business to videotape people in and around their premises, is it legal to videotape a person walking on the street to show it to others, and its limitation involved in surveillance camera use. Anyone point me in the correct direction?..or actually copy and paste the laws onto here, I'm from New York by the way. Thanks!

Oh my God, I hate when this happens. First of all I'm Mexican and to hear that one of my people got shot because he was persuing his dream is sad and hurtful. I don't know what exactly happened, but could the patrols over there use stun guns instead of real guns. This incident should be thoroughly investigated, if we need to be heard then we will. What are your thoughts?

When voters go to the polls, they generally don't have a good grasp on the actual intelligence level of the candidate. I'm not talking pass/fail things. Just a test that shows how knowledgeable a candidate is in various categories such as the global community, economics, law, etc.

This information doesn't necessarily come out in campaigns, nor debates.

Would you, as a voter, think that information would be useful to take to the polls with you?

It is proven that Iran is in any way helping, funding, supplying, or aiding any groups that are hostile towards U.S. forces, can the President just order a strike against Iran? Or would he need approval from the congress and senate?

Ok, if you have read this book and have read the second law which is

"NEVER PUT TO MUCH TRUST IN FRIENDS, LEARN HOW TO USE ENEMIES"

Now if you read the chapter on that law i see a resemblense to the movie alexander......

Ok, now have you seen the movie Alexander where when he takes over i think babylon and goes there to be greated by everyone he enters the castle or temple of the king......then the princess comes and she is scared and wants her family to remain safe and untouched, so then alexander spares the life of her and her brother and even lets them remain in the temple and still have the title as princess.....NOW the brother i think he was an enemy at first, and then by sparing his life, and in front of him honoring the "enemys" dead brother and past king....he made him into a friend more loyal then anyone of his generals.....

do any of you agree with me?
i think the law in the 48 laws of power #2 is very true.....

all i am gonna say about it is that most of the beliefs people have about marijuana and its smokers are false. for the most part, people dont smoke it as much as they smoke cigarettes are even drink. for those that do, they have addiction problems. however you can have addiction problems with anything. would you say its worse to smoke a joint everyday or get completely smashed everyday? the gateway drug this is a complete joke.. read it for yourself on wikipedia, "Since the 1950's some have believed [15] that cannabis is a "gateway drug," a drug that leads its users to other drugs such as cocaine or heroin. There have been many studies conducted on this subject recently. These studies have found the assertion to be false.[16]". Smoking it occasionally DOES NOT mess up your life. its insane. Become addicted to sleeping pills, or vodka, that'll **** up your life, but not weed. Being high isn't even that serious. Most people can't tell when im even high.

I slipped and fell flat today on the concrete walking from the elevator to the building where I work. The walkway from the elevator to the building is completely outdoors. The surface was slippery. I'm pretty sure it was because the water sprinklers were on full blown and it was like 40 degrees at around 7am, and it was really really cold so I think the water must've frozen and made the surface really slippery.

The question is: is there anything I can do? They should know better not to turn on sprinklers when it's this cold, right? So I would assume it's the building management or company's responsibility. It's obviously a safety harard for me as well as other employees.

Is this suable? Or at least compensate should I end up going to the doctor for repercussions.
