I think you're confused.

You needing to learn Spanish for a job is not the governments rules, it's the company you're applying with. I've never heard of knowing a foreign language to take the place of a GED or diploma.

It's not entirely the government that's making it easy on illegals. It's the companies and idividuals who benefit by hiring 'cheap labor.' Which is immoral, and inhumane.

American businesses cater to Spanish speaking people by labeling products in both Spanish and English, by providing Spanish speaking employees to accomodate them, and by using both languages in advertisements. Grocery stores have begun ordering foods and other products that illegals are accustomed to. That is done in the name of the almighty dollar.

There's a liberal mentaltiy in our government that believe that illegals are protectected under the 14th admendment, yet they don't have to pay taxes. They want to say they can have all these rights, with none of the responsibilties. Of the few who do pay taxes, it's a small amount soon outweighed by all their deductions. and then they receive 4k and up back at the end of the year for their children (eic). And guess how they get to pay taxes and recieve a refund? By purchasing illegal social security cards.

The concerns are mostly economical with this flux of illegals (There's an estimated 3.7 million illegals here in America) who are undereducated and underskilled. They come here to work for farmers and industries who don't even pay them minimum wage. Their children strain an already understaffed public school system. They have no medical insurance so they can't pay for hospital, dr visits or meds. One in four illegals live in poverty, but its not because they are unwilling to work. It's because they lack the status (being legal) and the education.

I don't think that the government is trying to 'keep out' illegal immigrants. The government wants to document who is here and where they are and they want to control the number of immigrants that we accept. It's never been America's policy to keep immigrants away, but t to reserve the right to control the situation.

And no you don't have to know Spanish to get a job unless you are a translator or something, quit whining.

Hate to bust your bubble but just about any job in which you deal with the public is increasingly requiring Spanish. Aren't requiring them to speak English though....which is plain wrong. There's a number of places around here that are not Spanish businesses that you can't order a hamburger with no onions and have anyone understand you. There's stores in the mall where you actually have to find someone who speaks English if you have any questions. It's not just Spanish...it's other languages as well. I mean how many different languages are American citizens supposed to learn to please all the various groups who prefere speaking their native language? I mean we expect people to learn 1....English. But in the wonderful world of diversity....we're expected to learn them all in order to be fair and non-discriminating. It's a crock. There's one school in which students spoke 137 different languages. No thanks......not doing it.

The government is not trying to stop immigration--they just are giving lip service to that idea to keep people calmed down. To stop immigration problems, they would have to crack down on the business community, and no Republican administration is ever going to do that because that's where they get their money.

The US only wants immigrants out to a certain extent. If it benefits us, then were fine with it. we will use them and then try to kick them out when were done. that's not right. I'm not gonna pick tomatoes for 50 cents a bushel, don't know about you. You need to speak Spanish because there are plenty of people who are here legally and yes illegally too that speak Spanish and need services too. We were all here illegally at some point, quit being so self righteous. If you wanna be real we all need to leave and give the Native Americans there land back.....

I would like to address the issue of employers wanting to hire bilingual (English/Spanish) employees. If you are a business owner who lives in an area where there are many Spanish speaking (non-English speaking) people, you would be foolish not to have employees who can communicate with your customer base.

That's the big question. What is our government REALLY doing to stop illegal immigration? These aliens feed off of us citizens by using things like welfare. The thing is though, these immigrants aren't doing anything to hurt us, and they're doing jobs that most American's wouldn't take. We need to stop immigration, but we should focus our power on stopping it, not reducing the number of illegal immigrants in our country currently.

The politicians do not actually understand the problem. It is not the only area where they make bad decisions.

For the information that they SHOULD be using, watch this video;

Blame the politically correct bafoons that feel they have every right to be in our Country ILLEGALLY and drain our system while they are here ILLEGALLY!!!

Harsh penalties for any company that employs them, cut ALL benefits and STOP the anchor baby system.

The reason there is so much bashing on illegal immigrants right now is because politicians only need something to base their propaganda on. Illegal immigrants ARE a surplus to economy, and ARE NOT all criminals like they want to describe them. Amnesty should be given selectively to some of them. And no you don't have to know Spanish to get a job unless you are a translator or something, quit whining.
