Personally, I would just rather not have the government spend this money period (and cut from my tax bill), but if they were going to spend it couldn't they put it to better use on health care, education, or even defense? Is a moon base really necessary?

So most Americans think they should be allowed to carry guns??? It will make there crime rate go down??? Make criminals think twice before commiting a crime??? ERRRRRRRRRRR NO!!!. It will do the complete opposite. If criminals think everyone might have a gun will they think twice before trying to rob them or just shoot them and then rob them. Criminals are desperate people often with nothing to lose so if everyone is armed the will become more desperate and the crime and death rates will be the highest in the world. Poor gullable americans. What will the think of next. Your opinons please

If a person were sentenced to a set time in prison for a sex crime, say 6 years, and was released after serving the entire sentence day for day, and are told when they walk out of the prison that they are now a free man, then wouldn't making that person have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his natural life count as cruel and unusal punishment? He was senteced to 6 years in prison, not a life sentence. Why dont we make a car thief have to register as a car thief for the rest of his life, or a crack head?

Conservatives talk more in a voice of equal proportions, or in other words, they seem to be color blind for the most part, such as believing in only one race, the human race

Liberals talk more in a voice of unequal proportions and are not color blind. They see all more then one race, and find differences in them.

Independents seem to be more like the conservatives in this aspect.

Your thoughts?

Even after four years of pointless war, I still hear the hardcore conservitives say that iraq was behind 9/11. Can anyone here show me any actual evidence? They won't even listen to the facts i have, so Id like to see some of theirs...

Why do we use production taxes, such as income tax, instead of replacing those with more consumption taxes, such as an increased sales tax? Wouldn't this further encourage savings and investment that would allow America, as a whole, to grow faster?

If you think otherwise, please explain why, as I'm simply curious.

Hi,

I recently became a US citizen and my girlfriend is a F-1 student in the US. We both want to go to her original home country (same as mine) for a few weeks to get married and then travel back to the US. What documents will we need to prepare/file for a smooth travel and then to apply for her Green Card?

Does anyone else feel that, while sex offenders are out there, that maybe society has gone a little over board with them? I mean you cant turn on the tv news any more with out hearing something about it. What about the ones what get out and try to actually abide by societies laws? why should they have to pay for the way a FEW ( yes few ) repeat offenders are? Does anyone else realize that sex crimes have the LOWEST risk of re-offending??

The head of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) in Iraq from May 2003 to June 2004, one of the first "official" decisions that Paul Bremer ordered was the de-Baathification and the disbanding the Iraqi army -- some 200,000 military members. In June and again in August '06,(On "Frontline") Bremer now views that move as a "mistake".
I agree. I think the Iraqi army (especially right after the invasion) would have welcomed the US and would have kept insurgency at a minimum, keeping in mind that they wanted to be free also.

The Navy's Human Capital Strategy seeks to "divest non-core mission areas" to contractor support, and seeks to minimize required manpower for ships, squadrons, etc. The bottom line is that they're downsizing people, flight hours, steaming hours, and so forth. At the same time, the U.S. economy is in an expansion, unemployment is as low, and many companies seek to hire those with military experience for leadership positions. Is this the right time for officers to leave the Navy and seek a new career?

I saw television footage recently that depicted youth in European soccer stadiums, places like Italy, Spain, Poland forming chains of Hitler salutes in their KKK outfits (how the hell did this derelict institution in hillibilly South land in Europe in the first place?). Some black players were thrown BANANAS during the matches; I guess this is the worst form of nuisance behavior that's simply cannot be tolerated, even during the worst period of the 20's and 30's, black sportsmen in the US faced little discrimination on field.

Also, there's been rise of far-right political parties in European countries except the UK of course. Many of them winning political battles and elections. Isn't this a climate of hostility in Europe now, say 10-15 years down the line. I saw several German and French language videos on Youtube, that glorifes the KKK which is ILLEGAL in the US today.

Did you see the Frank Luntz special on "The Week in Politics" on RTE last Sunday and do you think it will influence a lot of voters? Were you personally influenced? I personally feel the sample size was too small to pick up niche-party support. Thnx. :)

Let's face reality. There are 'loonies' in Iraq who are hell-bent on killing each other, and if coalition force members try to stop them, they get it too. It seems that Iraq can only be governed by a dictator.
So, if you accept the above, the solution should be the following:
Step one: Secure the Iraqi borders, especially the borders with Iran and Syria. If it means more troops, so be it. if it means re-instating the draft, so be it. Nobody comes in, and nobody goes out.
Step two: Create 'safe zones' for those Iraqis who want peace, they enter these zones unarmed, or no entry. Women and children first. Those who don't accept the offer, have to accept whatever happens to them.
Step three: Let them get on with whatever they had planned. We'll call 'time' when there is no more fighting.
Step four: Get the oil pumping again, reconstruct the country with THEIR money, and come home to a hero's welcome.
