If a person were sentenced to a set time in prison for a sex crime, say 6 years, and was released after serving the entire sentence day for day, and are told when they walk out of the prison that they are now a free man, then wouldn't making that person have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his natural life count as cruel and unusal punishment? He was senteced to 6 years in prison, not a life sentence. Why dont we make a car thief have to register as a car thief for the rest of his life, or a crack head?

to the person who said it is a cake walk, i only say this, a cake walk doesnt include limits on where you can live, where you can work, what type of work you can do, or even if you want to go to college and better yourself. a cake walk doesnt make employeers look you in the eye and say they wont hire you, regardless of experiance, so no my dear it is NOT a cake walk...i have watched my cousin have to go through hell, and cant even get his own place cause noone will hire him, he has to live with his parents at the age of 31....

Putting someone on the Sex offenders list under Meghans Law isn't a punishment, in fact jail isn't punishment. It's rehabilitation. The sex offenders list was created to protect innocent people from sex offenders. It is not to be used for anyone to act against the offender. That is stated in the Megans Law. This person isn't getting jobs because of his criminal record. Not the sex offenders List. I know I would want to nkow if a sexual predator was living next to me. So my kids don't go near him! It's going to be a hard road for him. Unfortunatley now when he realizes what he did wrong, it's too late. People have suffered and it's something he will have to live with every day. It's a serious mistake he made. It comes with serious consequences

Cruel and unusual punishment? They destroyed a person's life, health and overall well-being. Sex crimes are hideous, and as a young woman I must say I have no sympathy for sex offenders. NONE. There's a 33% chance that I'll get assaulted in some way one of these days; rape and assault aren't events that one can just "get over" but rather are life-altering atrocities. Why the **** should I or anyone else have to suffer the rest our lives while our attacker serves only a couple years?

Personally I think sex offenders should be burned at the stake, but that's me. In addition to that I would not allow anyone convicted of such a crime to live near a school where there are innocent children. If you're a catholic priest shame on you, but you got what was coming to you so stfu.

Sex offenders are likely to strike again as are car thiefs and such, but molesting a child is a much stronger damage then a lost car-so people are warned. I'd rather lose my car then be raped.

I'm sorry about your cousin, but these things are here for a reason.

Cruel and unusual punishment? You have got to be kidding. Comparing a sex offender with a theif is like comparing apples and oranges. Sex offenders commit a crime physically against another person, usually a woman or a child. Some one weaker than themselves. For sex? No. For power over another person, to inflict punishment or pain upon someone else. Because they are such freaking losers that they have to abuse women and children.

To your cousin: Poor bastard. My sympathies to his victim.

i think of usually human beings could desire to could desire to pay for against the regulation against others with the help of having finished to them quite worse what they did to their sufferers. Like say they smash in to different peoples properties and scouse borrow issues then the government could desire to take their abode away and sell it and supply the proceeds to the individuals they stole from. You rape or molest, you get injected with something to take your sexchronic away and completely not be waiting to get an erection/orgasm. You get caught blackmailing somebody then they hire PD's to maintain on with you around and likewise dig up loopy embarrasing stuff out of your previous and then take out an entire web page in a huge newspaper and positioned up all the embarrassing issues approximately you which you won't choose human beings to comprehend.

Considering many sexual offenders tend to strike again...I believe it is extremely important to keep them registered. I would want to know who in my neighborhood poses a risk, and would want to tell my children who, and where they need to be extremely cautious.
