Hi,

I recently became a US citizen and my girlfriend is a F-1 student in the US. We both want to go to her original home country (same as mine) for a few weeks to get married and then travel back to the US. What documents will we need to prepare/file for a smooth travel and then to apply for her Green Card?

I don't know for the USA, but I had to put myself the same question for Switzerland, with the difference, that I am native Swiss and didn't get citizenship recently. But this would have made no difference.
We both would have needed official documents proving that we're unmarried (like anybody else). For the aknowledgement of the marriage by Swiss authorities we would have had to make clear, whether our marriage was under Swiss law or under the law of the home of my fiancée. After the ceremony we would have had to go to the Swiss embassy, I to get my passport altered (married), she to get permission to live in Switzerland.
In the meantime my girlfriend decided she would want to marry here, but there are some problems, too.

Good luck!

Call the US Immigration and Naturalization Service. You will find the number under the US Government pages of your local phone book.
