A woman from Albania was tired of working for $150 a month, which was barely enough to pay her rent and take care of her family. She decided to come to US to work. A work visa was impossible to get, so she opted for a tourist visa. Of course, as always that was denied , too, and a corrupted clerk at the US embassy in Tirana told her she can get a visa only if she paid $15,000 under the ta. She asked friends and relatives for a loan and eventually collected this outrageous amount after many months. Now she is here and had to work 3 jobs just to pay back her loan. I know other people from all over the world who also had to pay THOUSANDS of $$$ just to get here. Her story brought me to tears, she hasn't seen her child for 3 years now... She calls every day and cries on the phone, unable to take her here, unable to go back, for she'd have to pay another $15,000. If coming here is impossible in a legal way, why are you surprised people overstay their visas? Would you work for $150 a month
