He was at the Big Boy in Mt Clemens Michigan and he had his leg off and on the table. ( Trying to fix it?) Should I tell him he is out of place? His car ( Bumper sticker ) says "I am proud to lose my body parts for Bush".

You're such an idiot. Yet another "Big Boy" story. It's pretty sad that your life is so pathetic you have to hang out at the Big Boy all the time. Don't lower the Marines to your standard though. I'm sure it's a TOTAL LIE that he had that bumper sticker. You do, after all, have a knack for fabricating things. I'd say that you're the only one out of place. I'm surprised since you're such a brave man and he had his leg off, that you didn't say something to insult him. Then again, you probably knew that since you're yellow and he's a Marine, that he'd still be able to kick your @$$ all the way back to you being inside your mommy.

First are you sure that what his bumper stated? Secondly he is not out of place, if you had a nail in your shoe wouldn't you try to get it out? Third I am a decorated, Combat wounded vet and I do not want anyone to say or do anything different then they would for anyone else. I have never met another vet who felt any different. When someone opens the door for me I REALLY< REALLY just say thanks. If it is a close friend they can say whatever they want I usually just jump on them and give them nookie's. They learned a long time ago nothing has changed I still love the South, Sponge Bob and hot sauce. God Bless You, our men and women and the Southern People.

Considering the fact that you are not and have never been in the military and you have all of your limbs, it is safe to say that you could never understand what he has been, is, and will go through. You have no idea why he has his leg on the table. How long was he separated from his family and friends? How many troops did he know that died or lost limbs? How long did he have to wait until he could get medical attention? How long was he in the first hospital only to be transferred to the next. How did he adjust to life after losing his leg? How many people did he know growing up that no longer speak to him? How long was he hospitalized? How long did he have physical therapy to adjust to his new leg? How comfortable is it for him to use an artificial limb to replace what he lost? Please think, before you speak. The military give up more than you know or think. Considerate people would state one of the following.

You are so much braver than me.

Thank you for your sacrifice.

God bless you for not being a coward.

Thank you for your service.

People all over the world sleep soundly because of you.

I am so glad that you made it back safely.

If you cannot manage one of these, don't say anything a buy or give him something appropriate and meaningful.

If there is a hell, you're defiantly going there. You lie a lot!
You know good and well nobody has a bumper sticker that says that.
You need to be committed and locked in a padded room. You're totally out of touch with reality, and you need help.

Perhaps he was out of place trying to fix his prosthetic limb in a public restaurant, but he was trying to make it so he could walk. It's not like he was half-clothed or being lewd.

What should you have said? You should have waited until he had his hands free a moment, gone up to him, offered to shake his hand, and thanked him sincerely for his sacrifice to his country (no matter WHO the President is or what his bumper sticker says!) and said "Semper Fi, Sir. Thank you for your service to my country."

That's all you need to do. Doesn't matter if YOU agree with the war or not, or even if HE does. He gave up his mobility, years of his life, his health, and should be treated with respect and dignity.

I think you should be proud that this person actually served with honor, no matter what the purpose of the war is. Sometimes I don't even know. He is a brave individual who pursued his beliefs and convictions and didn't compromise to what the media and all the left wing nuts are calling a no win situation. Next time you should by him a drink!!

Your an a$$hole and a traitor, and if that Marine knew who you were and what you've said about the Marine Corps, and the United States, he would have torn your miserable throat out. You dont deserve to be in the same room with him, let alone actually say anything to him. Scumbag.

You should say Thank You

If he had lost his leg protesting the war, would that have been more acceptable? Or if he had lost it fighting as part of a terrorist cell?

What would you say to a person with their false teeth out or an artificile eye out? Is it uncomfortable to see, yes, but they have been injured and are dealing with it.
