In big cities 99% of reastaurant staff(especially kitchen) are immigrants. I saw an American complain about immigrants, while he was having his dinner. Boy, if it wasn't for immigrants, he wouldn't have anything to eat. Produce-picked and packed, cooked and served by IMMIGRANTS. Illegal or legal, the only difference is..the legal ones are former illegals married for papers.
An illegal cook put his love into his meal, and that ***$hle is complaining? What kind of a hypocrite society do Americans live in?

To niecy: Because I know the cook in question. And as for coming here legally, obviosly you ave no clue, since the chance of winning a Green Card Lottery is as in any lottery:tiny.

Do you call a 4-star restaurant a "greasy spoon joint"? Hahaha, you've only seen resturants on a picture, right? Or maybe you prefer McDonald's? For sure the workers there are legal, but that is not a resaturant, you know?

They'd still get their meals but there going to cost a lot more! People need to stop hating the illegal immigrants. Until you have lived in someone elses shoes, you have no right to judge! Get real all you people filled with hatred, not you, I mean the ones who are answering questions bashing illegals, THEY are ignorant!

a. Let the residents of the projects and teenagers fill those jobs.
b. When I was in a restaurant in Arizona, I saw a Mexican busboy that didn't speak English (and I am about 98% sure he was an illegal immigrant) pick his nose and eat the snot right before he touched a clean plate that he put on another table. Ever since then, I NEVER eat a restaurant unless I can see the food being cooked and served. (The only exception to this being a restaurant completely owned and operated by some friends of our family. We know they aren't pigs.)
c. How many of those immigrants are illegal? vs. How many of those immigrants are legal? What are the restaurants like? Have you ever SEEN restaurants in Chicago, NYC, etc.?

Yes I go to restaurants.

" the only difference is..the legal ones are former illegals married for papers. "

Do you seriously think that? There are immigrants who came here the legal way and not just from a sham marriage. Get a clue. And speaking of which, another person just asked a question awhile ago asking how can we tell if a person is an illegal. You gave a "statistic" about how 99% of restaurant staff are immigrants, but that doesn't mean that the cook in that restaurant was an immigrant, legal or otherwise. Why would you assume he was?

I'm pretty sure that the man didn't think of the situation in the way that you did. He is probably just angry that there are so many people coming into the US and the government isn't stopping them because they don't know how. Some of the best cooks I know are illegal immagrants and I agree that the man shouldn't have been complaining. You're right; he should have just shut up and enjoyed the meal.

America is built upon hypocrisy.

Yes, its true that man would not have his meal if it wasn't for some immigrant working in the kitchen.

The only thing you have wrong is 'former illegals married for papers' - that isn't true. Being married gets no bonus with INS. Before 9/11 that happened, I'm sure of if but...not anymore.

You know, I try to ignore it, but since seeing some of those articles on illegal immigrants and diseases we had long since eradicated here (like TB and leprosy), I have a harder time enjoying restaurants and tend to eat where I know the owners. I buy my meat from a store where I know the butchers, as well.

It's kind of nice, actually. A little more expensive, but a lot more of the personal touch.

Yeah I still go to rastaraunts. ButI don't like that there are illegal immigrants in America. I don't care about legal immigrants in America because thats how America was started. Immigrants came and gave the birth to our country.

Immigrants or illegal aliens, Trixie? There's a difference.

I like having Chinese immigrants making my Chinese food. I like having Thai immigrants making my Thai dishes. I like Indian (dot, not feather) immigrants making my Indian dishes. I like Lebenese, Greek, Polish, and Mexican immigrants making my Lebenese, Greek, Polish and Mexican food in restaurants.

Illegals - that's a different story than what you told, and I'd rather not have them.

Now, I believe we need to change our immigration quotas and increase our temporary worker programs. Let's face it - if we have 12 million illegal workers and less than 5% unemployment, we definitely need those jobs filled, somehow.

So instead of the irrational extremist beliefs on both sides, let's find a way to fill those jobs and keep everything nice and legal.

It's not just the restaurant business. Too many people give too little credit to immigrants in this country.
