when people say that all immigrants MUST assimilate, isn't that like telling them what to do?

america is the land of the free. that's why we made it, to be free and also be free of a controling nation

when i hear people say that immigrants MUST assimilate, i think, "well, you could at least say something like 'in my opinion, immigrants should give an effort to assimilate"

i hope you all understand what i'm saying. i understand why you want them to assimilate, but when you demand it as if its an order, it comes off as rude or controling. it defies america itself.

do these "illegals" who have worked here for 10-15 years get any credit for ASSIMILATION. Do they get any LESS hatred because they didn't have the money for the LEGAL documents BUT hate the radical ignorant mass who is making a mockery of THEIR hard work?

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't fight like heck for my countrymen's right to bear arms. Why is it that some people think that because they don't like guns, no one should have them? I am not trained to use one, so, I don't. Our forefathers saw fit to give us this right to protect ourselves from tyranical governments. I don't know about you, but I think they were very wise.

Also, I would sure be glad that my husband (who is trained) has one, if some crackhead broke into my home intent on stealing from or hurting my family.

If our right to bear arms was taken away, then only the crimminals and government would have them...would anyone feel safer then?

What say ye?

Keep in mind that Russia, china, and North Korea are not what I am talking about.

I’m talking about capitalist nations that have adopted socialist values and smoothly integrated them with their economic system.
Examples; Japan, Europe, Canada, etc.

I do not want to hear the answers of "this country because it is" type answers...

I'll give you which one I think is.

I think that Ireland is one of the most progressive countries because it has come from the status of being a "third world" country to one of the most progressive counties in the European Union and in the world. Once Northern Ireland joins their political and way of life, they'll probably be better off than the US is.

On Oct.7 2001, just before Afghanistan, and again at the State of the Union Address in 2003, just before Iraq, Bush warns time and time again that we're under imminent threat for bio-warfare. He proposes to spend $6 billion on something called Project BioShield to protect us from smallpox, Ebola, Ricin, and anthrax. Bush said Hussein had thousands of tons of biological weapons stockpiled and he was a clear and present danger, an imminent threat to the US.

We've since spent $500 billion on Iraq. The $6 billiion for BioShield is only $24 for each of us. Since Bush was so sure we were at risk, why weren't we worth $24 apiece on this so-called "War on Terror"? Did you ever get your BioShield or were all of us on another list? Lost in mail?

If he believed it, why didn't he spend it to "save" us? If he didn't believe it, why did he lie to us and to the entire world?

Isn't this maybe just a little worse than the Blue Dress?

And why did they name it "Project BS"?????

"Indiana Congressman John Hostettler pledged to take up the case of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. They were convicted in March on several felonies and a civil rights violation for wounding the man -- and trying to cover it up.

Several other House members, including Democrat Silvestre Reyes, agreed to the support a review. Reyes formerly led the Border Patrol's El Paso sector.

Andy Ramirez with the nonprofit Friends of the Border Patrol says the agents were wrongly prosecuted and convicted "for simply doing their job."

The facts will tell, of course, but from the road it sounds outrageous that these guys were sentenced to 20 years for shooting the drug smuggler who had first attacked one of them and had 800 lbs of marijuana in his van.

Thoughts?

Believe me im not helping my son get out,I helped him get in cause he did break into a persons home, and I helped police to find the things he stole and they got it back,he is an adult and didnt live with me because he chose to continue the drugs,if you never did drugs you wont understand the addiction of it,I was just asking about the strike, the time he is fine with he knows he did wrong and has to pay for his crime. just to give you a better understanding,I was looking for a rehab for him before this happened but it was for the best,I do feel better hes there, and yes we all gotta pay our taxes anyway, for thousands of inmates. he knows he has a loving family, that he knows, but the drugs was what he chose on his own.
