"Indiana Congressman John Hostettler pledged to take up the case of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. They were convicted in March on several felonies and a civil rights violation for wounding the man -- and trying to cover it up.

Several other House members, including Democrat Silvestre Reyes, agreed to the support a review. Reyes formerly led the Border Patrol's El Paso sector.

Andy Ramirez with the nonprofit Friends of the Border Patrol says the agents were wrongly prosecuted and convicted "for simply doing their job."

The facts will tell, of course, but from the road it sounds outrageous that these guys were sentenced to 20 years for shooting the drug smuggler who had first attacked one of them and had 800 lbs of marijuana in his van.

Socal - I'll take a look. I did sign the petition.

I'm adding something from Socal's blog here: "I just spoke with Attorney Mary Stillinger's legal assistant, Ruth.

She said that the U.S. Border Patrol Agents are scheduled for their sentencing on August 22nd.

Ruth said IF WE SEND LETTERS stating the border patrol agents have been wrongly accused THAT ATTORNEY MARY STILLINGER CAN USE OUR LETTERS WHEN SHE GOES BEFORE THE JUDGE on August 22nd.

Letters could be helpful for both the sentencing and the appeal in this case, she said.

I have been researching this issue - I will get various other contact info to you later as well.

I told the legal assistant I had called the White House and the woman who answered the phone knew of the case because of the phone calls - she told me to include that fact in the letter.

EMAIL or FAX your letters!!!

The entire story along with ways to become involved in the fight to exonerate Ramos and Compean can be found on my 360 blog.

It is crucial that Americans voice their outrage regarding this travesty of justice.

Need to shoot the smugglers and the DA that brought the charges. Why anyone would be a cop today is beyond me. They are treated badly by both the criminals and the regular folk. And get no backup from the courts and the media. Someday there is going to be a real shortage of Police and then I want to hear all the civil rights folks
And Karis killing someone who is threatening you is called self defense. And commen sense

I signed this petition and I urge every God fearing, red-blooded American that values this country and it's freedoms to do the same.
These brave men are the last line of defense in the fight against the illegal invasion, and the war on terror.
They deserve out respect and support, nothing less!
Please, sign this petition and help to right this injustice.

My thoughts are no longer qualified to meet this country's government policy standards...

Why the hell, they do the things they do.. and get away with it, is amnesty itself.

You really wanna know my thoughts? Okay.. fine, I'll tell you. Though I don't know who any of those people are, I cought the storyline.

My thoughts are............much stronger than BS...

My thoughts are ..... unexplainable.. I'm overwhelmed by the re-tard-ed-ness of our lead-ers....

.....They are tumultuously undefined....with ......

My thoughts are a bit cluttered right now, I'm gonna have to take a raincheck and get back with you....

it rather is finding like the way forward for united states of america of america is popping bleak. no longer permitting our infantrymen and regulation enforcement officers to do their jobs without worry of prosecution. This seems to be a growing to be type. Punishing those that commit themselves to serve the terrific pastimes of our usa for doing their jobs. they could be loose to proceed their sturdy artwork. Like I say......The enemy interior would be our loss of life.

They did their job, they should be applauded for it. However it seems popular to blame the cops first, without considering facts.

Simple biggotry.
