The patrol units are the ones that respond first to B&E's, Domestic violence calls, wrecks, or any other 911 calls for the police. The reason they are called a patrol unit is because they can be dispatched to anywhere in their jurisdiction.

They have to patrol to keep law abiding citizens like us, to keep on obeying the traffic laws.Things come across things while on patrol like:
Some pissed off husband beating his wife & kids.
Some drunk thinking he can whip the world.
Some low life hits a conventient store.
...ect.
I,m glad they are in their patrol unit.

Police spend most of their time bored. And then something happens, like bang. Then you again spend most of your time bored. And then bang bang! Bored! Bang!
I never even had to chamber a round, but I had to be willing to shot someone if that person was a danger to me or one of my fellow officers or civilians. It is a heavy responsibility. But some people are cut out for it. Just don't turn into a sadist or a masochist.

Car accidents, domestic disputes, suspicious activity, back up, a police officer friend told me once that when they see a street light out, they write down the number on the street light and turn it in so it can be serviced....all kinds of stuff.
I have three cop friends.

They do accident investigation and backup other officers who may be dealing with serving a warrant or picking up somebody for a bank robbery or helping search for a lost child etc. Their job entails many things.

They also try to save people in wrecked cars, burning cars and buildings, Hostages, take people off he street that want to sell drugs, commit suicide, kill and rape. Basically deal with people all day every day that the average person tries to avoid. Then when the worst happens in a suicide, car accident, etc. etc., they have to go in person to notify the family. Want to try that, it is not fun.

They put their lives on the line. A lot of people think of them in ways that are less than kind, but who do they call when they're in a bad situation?

divide your money with the local judges; 80 percent for the policeman who gave you the "violation ticket" and 20 percent for the judge who will make sure you pay that money. Great collaboration huh? How do you feel giving money to those local and state police stations, who call every other week for donations? If the highest speed limit in U.S. is about 70 miles per hour then why the government allows vehicles capable of running much faster than that limit? Yes, because they know you'll speed. High speed = violation tickets = $$$, and that's what's all about.
