But that doesn't mean I wouldn't fight like heck for my countrymen's right to bear arms. Why is it that some people think that because they don't like guns, no one should have them? I am not trained to use one, so, I don't. Our forefathers saw fit to give us this right to protect ourselves from tyranical governments. I don't know about you, but I think they were very wise.
Also, I would sure be glad that my husband (who is trained) has one, if some crackhead broke into my home intent on stealing from or hurting my family.
If our right to bear arms was taken away, then only the crimminals and government would have them...would anyone feel safer then?
What say ye?

I agree with you. I respect people's opinions, but I can not tolerate people who likes to force their views on others. I like firearms and the first thing I did was to get educated on the proper usage, etiquette and safe firearms handling. The last thing criminals want is for every home owner to have a firearm in their homes. It makes their jobs that more difficult if they have to worry about a person who is armed. Where I live, 911 response is about 10 to 15 minutes. I timed them the last time my roommate thought that there was an intruder outside our apartment. It was a good thing that it turned out to be a false alarm. I own a firearm, but my wish is that I would not need to use it. I keep to the motto of having it when I do not need it, than needing it and not having it. Good luck

I disagree with those who say we shouldn't have the right to bear arms. I may not be trained, per say, like a cop or service man, but I have been trained by my father. Where I live just about everyone hunts. My father taught me how to shoot a gun a long time ago when I was 9 years old. I even went thru one of those "Hunter Safety Courses" and passed with 100%. I know how to handle a gun, and will use it if my family is in danger.

The way this world is today, you should learn how to use a gun. You never know when you might need to shoot first and ask questions later. As for as the people who think that no one should have them; I say "bite me".
I agree 100% with you about our forefathers, it is too bad we don't have the leadership now as we did in the past, but the good guys are gone.
My gun goes with me where ever I go.

Well put, when a gun is needed there is no other suitable substitute. If people were to actually want to know the truth, they could look at the FBI's stats on gun crime and they would find out that more violent crime is stopped by the legal private gun owner, than people harmed
by firearms

OK there is nothing wrong with not owning or having any weapons, that's what the right to bear arms is all about. The choice to choose.

As I understand it in England, no one can own a handgun. The police do not carry guns. Only the military and specially authorized police and security personel can carry firearms. When you look at the statistics of death by guns, America leads.
If you live in an area where you fear crackheads. I would move.

Our forefathers used the guns to kill the Indians, and then each other.
I think the right to bear arms is fine, but government really ought to have a stricter way of enforcing who gets to buy them, etc.
Maybe there should be a department of gun ownership records.
We can call it Department of Bearing Arms. (like DMV)
Then follows, "Bearing arms is privilege, not a right".

Agreed. I reserve the right to purchase a gun if I ever felt threatened.

Long question, short answer.
I have guns, I believe criminals by definition really don't care about the law.
I believe EVERY American should have at least 1 gun and be prepared to defend themselves when necessary.

from what i understand about the new national id card coming into effect in '08 they will have record of any firearm or ammo purchase that you buy and anyone that scans your card has access to that information .... maybe we will be instant terror suspects anytime we travel ... my god ... better stock up on things now lol.
