On Feb 4, 2003, the UN voted for an end to the forty-one-year-old embargo against Cuba. Only three nations—the U.S., Israel, and the Marshall Islands—voted against the motion.
Again, on Nov 8, 2005 the UN voted on a resolution to end the embargo, with the margin of 182 for the resolution and 4 against (The U.S., Israel, Palau and the Marshall Islands).
The U.S. embargo against Cuba is an economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed on Cuba on February 7, 1962. As of 2006, the embargo is still in effect, making it one of the most enduring trade embargoes in modern history.
