ok so im getting ready for school this morning, i turn on the news and i hear about a terrorist attack that was planned. then i hear that the US government raised the terrorist alert to high. so part of my question is; what is the government going to gain out of elevating the alert? all they are doing is scaring the citizens, they arent stopping anyone from attacking. all that alert really tells me is "hey! we might be attacked once again! so be afraid!" i also dont think that making people throw away their water bottles, perfume, cologne, and things like that before they board a plane is really going to help. so what's your point of view about this?

Why is America on their black list? They struck us first didn't they? Don't they have enough to worry about in their own country? Or do they really think they are going to take over the world?

I am really thinking about this issue and I'd like to get more input.

Simplified (horribly simplified) US and Israeli policy on terrorism seems to be "Hit back way out of proportion to how hard we ourselves are struck."

The US lost the World Trade Center and several thousand innocent lives. We took over not only the country responsible but a second Islamic country as well. Israel looses two soldiers to a kidnapping; it bombs Lebanon back to the 1960's.

My question is not really if this is right or wrong. In my mind, all war is terrible. At the same time, Islamic extremism is a danger to innocent people the world over - including to those in Islamic countries. They are mass murderers who must be stopped.

So my question becomes this: Will US and Israeli policy be effective in the war on terrorism? Can we scare other countries into cracking down on radical Islam within their own borders? Will this end terrorism or at least make it much less likely to occur?

MISSION, TX — Lizbeth Flores of Mission plans to join Cindy Sheehan’s second anti-war vigil in front of President George W. Bush’s summer vacation home in Crawford, Texas, for three days beginning Monday.

In early July, Flores lost her husband, 27-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Omar D. Flores, during his second tour of Iraq and has been looking for a way to tell the president how she feels about the war and her husband’s death.

Sheehan — who contacted friends of Flores to see if the 25-year-old widow would join this summer’s protest — commanded media attention last summer with her vocal anti-war vigil in front of the president’s vacation home in Crawford.

She publicly blames Bush for the 2004 death of her son in Iraq and has been demanding to meet with him since last August.

Saddam used chemical weapons to wipe out the kurds because they were helping Iran while Iran was at war with Iraq. If they were in the USA, we would have convicted them of treason or declared them the enemy. That is like one of our states helping Iraq right now.

Or

Us or Israel killing 100,000s of civilians with airplane bombs?

Both are bad but which is worse.

The problems we are facing today, namely illegal immigration, wars in Iraq and elsewhere, and wasteful spending to name a few, are problems our leaders should be taking care of, not bickering about. I would support any decision our leaders make if they would just start making them. Politicians nowadays, I feel, are dishonoring the people of America by not truly representing them. They can defend their platforms well but I want to see some action. They are causing a rift between the American people by letting these issues go unresolved and the rift is only going to get bigger with each new issue we face. Eventually we are going to all reach our breaking point and DEMAND action. If every pissed off American would call or write a letter to our leaders they would be so overwhelmed with criticism they would have to do something, wouldn't they? We as taxpaying citizens need to demand action as this country is by the people for the people and I think our leaders have forgotten that.

Do people go along with things they normally wouldn't do if they can be held in a captive state of fear? Can a person through the use of propaganda be kept afraid of the boogie man? Can political propaganda suspend critical thinking skills? Can a politician's use fear proganda to seduce a mind and hold that person captive to his own will? Can fear mongering turn people into willing subjects, bent on murdering before the boogie man comes to get them?

I love this. Democrats can't believe this. The NSA program worked. I mean god forbid that a terroist plot be disrupted.
The record shows that the Democrats have no ground on national security and actually want the terrorists to have rights like at Club Gitmo.
The Kooks (Keepers of Odd Knowledge Society) are already making the theories about England. I love it.
Anyone think the Democrats are incredibly weak on national security?
I know the looneys will say wait till November...I've waited through 2000,2002,2004 and again 2006 shortly.

Are we going to be afraid of our own shadows soon?

How much are people going to give up for the sake of their security? This...has crossed the line.

Hell, why not ban clothes? We can find a reason too, right?

This is a John Stossel "Gimme a break" moment.

I saw another question where someone said that there's a difference between being a criminal and being illegal.

Wouldn't the argument be easier if we stopped using euphemisms, and started simply referring to them as what they are? Criminal immigrants?

Actually, in retrospect, maybe 'criminal invaders' would be more appropriate.

Alas, one change at a time. Liberal minds need to take things nice and slow. God forbid you throw any numbers at them.

We always hear that "The U.S. is governed by "the rule of law" and most Americans are law abiding citizens. So shouldn't we require immigrants, as a minimum requirement for citizenship, to be law abiding? Which means illegal immigrants should be deported?

If John Kerry was in office now instead of Bush I figure the terrorist in England would not have been caught. Bush is strong on terror and the best thing for this country. Kerry would have destroyed the military and intelligence organizations that did such a great job in capturing the terrorist before they acted. Don't you think its time you Bush Wackers reconsider your left wing appeasement agendas now?

SUPPOSE (MEANS MAKE BELIEVE) BUSH WERE TO DECLARE that the borders between Mexico and Canada did not exist anymore, and told those countries they are now all American Citizens and 79 million came from Mexico and 75 million came from Canada to bring our population to over 400 million people at once and your cities were flooded with crime would you consider this an act of war by Bush on you? Now of course, all qualify for benefits as they are all citizens now.

Unites States is being blamed for the world's problems. The United States is like a mother who constantly butts into her children's lives. The mother finds herself not welcomed into her children's homes because she interferes in their business insted of taking care of her own. Wouldn't the United States be liked better if she left the children alone to solve their own problems. These nations have been around longer then the United States. If they haven't figured out how to solve their problems and business by now, they shouldn't run home to mommy (the United States) to help. Most children resent their parent for interfering even when invited.. After all these (adult) nations were doing fine without our help before we came along. Could it be greed and power that motivates the United States to become the disciplinary for the masses? Would terrorism still exist if we were bold enough to hide our head in the sand again and become isolated? Then we wouldn't be blamed for world problems.

Was it Sam Giancana(Chicago Mafia) ?
Was it Carlos Marcello(New Orleans Mafia)?
Was it Cubans?
Was it the CIA?
Was it LBJ?

Who the hell knows? It could've been ALL OF THE ABOVE!

I believe the CIA had the Mafia hire Cubans to shoot Kennedy. Then, the Government covered it up to prevent World War 3.

It would've been fighting Cuba and Vietnam all at the same time if we found out the truth.

What does it matter now? I think the CIA should release the files and tell us the truth about Lee Harvey Oswald and who was really behind Kennnedy's murder.

It's too late for jutice, but it's not too late for the truth.
