Would you drop a friendship with one person to be friends with someone else? Israel is Friends with the USA and pretty much always have been. The French do not seem to ever agree with each other on much of anything.
I don't understand and nor does most any American of why the French would want Israel to pull it's troops out of Lebanon? If they pull out now Hezbollah would just run back to the border and start shooting rockets deeper into Israel. Do you want to see people in Israel killed? I have yet to hear or see the people of Israel march in the streets yelling death to the Arabs. But it is an everyday thing in the rest of the middle east.
I feel sorry for Israel living in the middle of a bunch of crazy people who cut off their kids arms and use their family as a shield in war. Kill their own babies so they can hold them up on TV and tell the world that Israel did it with their bombs. Being they knew that Israel was going to attack Per the notes they dropped and the broadcast on the radio and by calling people on the phone. If they stayed to fight and did not think it was importune to get their family's that is their fault not Israel or the USA.
That is why we are friends with Israel and not the French. You need to help kill out Hezbollah not let them run wild.

Please explain the benefits to the US to be 'with the French.'
France, a socialistic country, has terribly high unemployment because it fails to allow real capitalism - private investors who use their own capital to create jobs for people who are willing to work hard.
France seeks to protect every person from any kind of personal hardship. Isn't it true that citizens in France who are unmotivated to work get paid by the government for housing, food, medicine - and even take vacations. Those people who actually work in France pay taxes to support lazy countrymen - what an insult!
Somewhere in France, a union will go out on strike every other week because working conditions might change. I bet that is convenient.
France grants asylum to all kinds of people. For one, the late Ayatollah Khomenhi of Iran, the protoype for Muslim fundamentalism in the world. Many thanks.
France is still dealing with the problems of its former colonies. Remember Algeria? France must be very careful not to upset the Muslim population living in France. Why do so many Muslims live in France? Partly because they are willing to do hard work that French are unwilling to do.
And don't forget about French-Indochina (Vietnam) - the US lost 58,000 soldiers so France could exit from that disaster.
On the other hand:
Israel is a democracy and the only true democracy in the Middle East. People get to actually vote for their government -- what a concept!
Israel was legitimately established by the United Nations in 1948. (France is still a member of the UN Security Council as far as I know.)
The economy of Israel is hard-working and productive, and amazingly, actually creates jobs for Palestinians. Not the other way around.
Isaelis don't go around wearing explosive belts blowing up buses, night clubs and restaurants anywhere in the Middle East.
Perhaps if you did some further reading, you might have a better understanding. Television gives you such a limited 'reality' of the real world - I recommend that you to turn it off and READ legitimate world newspapers and magazines for better information.
Again, please share with us the benefits of being with the French.

We would really love to be with you French, however at this time there seems to be a shortage of WHITE FLAGS. We just wouldn't fit in without them.
