It's not because he's black,it's because he's too religious,that's why.Most Americans are "Sunday Morning" Christians,but Keyes is "Saturday Night" christian-a little too close for comfort.
And I have to laugh sometimes at all these attacks against atheists, heretics,and other "unbelievers",as if christians are so convincing and so peaceful they dont need to resort to it.
As George Will said(one of the few ultraconseravtives who really is fair and balanced)Americans are more rhetorically conservative than they are in practice,and the fastest growing religion in the US(besides Islam) is the state of "none".There are two and a half times more non-religious Americans now than there was in 1990.
Why cant Rick Santorum be president,for that matter?
Hell,even Bush has the occasional drink or swear word,at least.
