Nothing could be further from the truth. After all, if liberals did hate Israel so much, wouldn't Bill Clinton, the poster boy for liberal thought, just take the Palestinian's side whenever a skirmish occurred between the two societies? No instead, Bill Clinton called together leaders of both nations and tried to work out a peaceable solution, which is more than I can say for this President.
Only in the minds of warmongering conservatives is the call for temperance and restraint tantamount to siding with the enemy.

I am a liberal and how I feel about Israel has nothing to do with hatred toward the country or its people; however, I do not approve of its policies toward the treatment of the Palestinians. But I'll go one step further - I am an American and I don't hate America - the country or its people, but again I do not approve of this administrations policies in the handling of foreign affairs. In fact I don't think either Isreal or the US have handled anything - I think it would be more aptly put to say they have mis-handled everything. I think that as long as Isreal wants to play tit for tat with the Palestinians, Hamas, or Hezbollah, they can continue to justify indefinitely their actions. There has to be a better way but it is going to take setting aside old ways of thinking and considerably more willingness to compromise. Frankly I have a problem with Isreal getting all upset about two SOLDIERS being taken hostage. They are soldiers and their very job descriptions places them at risk of being in harms way. I would be much more sympathetic to the notion of defending innocent civilians having been taken and held hostage as has happened in the past but that is not the case now. No, I don't want to see harm come to those soldiers but I'm just begining to think that no matter what the Palestinians, Hamas, Hezbollah, and now Lebanon, do or don't do, the Isreali's who clearly have the upper hand will use whatever excuse they can find to further delay any attempt at creating peace. I mean look at the arrogance with which they returned the Gaza and West Bank back to the Palestinians. How would you feel if I gave you a gift but threatened to take it back everytime you dared to use it in any way other than what I'd intended you to use it for. Wrong! Then to say that they are going after Hezbollah but are ripping Lebanon apart and displacing thousands. Come on - what happened to the idea of a limited response or covert operations to attain such goals. It wasn't even attempted - they didn't let enough time pass between when those soldiers were taken and they started firing to let a either alternative the chance of accomplishing anything. Then again, I am perhaps being a bit arrogant myself in not having a clue what it must be like to live there with the minute by minute threat that face the people living in Isreal. As such I would be glad to agree to disagree for the moment and remain open to continued debate on the issue.

the statement- "Liberals hate Israel" is what is called a logical fallacy... first of all, in order for this to be a valid statement, you would have to prove- not only that all liberals hate Israel, you would also have to come up with an acceptable definition of the world "liberals", and then prove that the people you are referring to are, in fact, liberals.
basically, the question might as well be, "why do racoons hate Matt Damon so much?"

I've voted conservative in every election I've had the privilege to be a part of, but I don't support Israel. It is a fact that they are here to stay, and that they should have the right to defend themselves, but they overstepped the bounds of human decency. It is one thing to target strategic infrastructure like roads and airports, or even known Hezbollah buildings. But, when the Israelis target cars leaving southern Lebanon, after the people were told to leave, killing innocent people who are trying to do as asked, Israel has lost my support. The entire world needs to put pressure on both Israel and Hezbollah to stop the attacks. An attack by one perpetuates more from the other. Israel needs to stop, and Hezbollah needs to return the kidnapped soldiers.

I don't think all liberal hate Israel. I myself don not consider myself a liberal though. I do not hate Israel, but I despise what their government is doing by murdering innocent people and calling it self defense. For all of you idiots out there who say they are "G.D's" chosen people, would the chosen act in such a murderous and evil way? I think not. The entire human race are the chosen people. The Zionists need to leave their neighbors alone and just concede that they are in the wrong.

Again you are making a general statement. I don't know that ALL liberals hat Israel. That said I don't understand why many of the people on the Left that I have heard comment seem to favor Israel's enemies.

You're overgeneralizing. Doesn't apply to all liberals. Especially the Jewish ones, and there are plenty of them. Doesn't apply to me and I'm not. If they managed to wipe out Hezbollah completely I'd be very happy for them.
I do feel for the civilian Lebanese who are injured or have had family members killed or hurt but that's what happens when terrorists hide behind women and children. Hezbollah has no conscience for using these people as shields.

"They hate isreal like they hate and want to kill america"
Anyone who says things like this is either stupid or so closed-minded that they might as well be. How can anyone think this way all the time? I don't get these people.

Because they represent a good example of standing up for them self's in spite of a terrible conflict of interest. the fact that not everything is black and white is very scary to a liberal. there must always be a bad guy to blame when someone else is in trouble(and it's best if this bad guy is Israel). this is what Hollywood is built on, how can they think else?

Why do you assume that its liberals who hate Israel. from outside looking in, it seems more like conservatives( fundamentalist christians) who want Israel gone from the face of the earth.
