It's not because he's black,it's because he's too religious, that's why. Most Americans are "Sunday Morning" Christians, but Keyes is "Saturday Night" christian-a little too close for comfort.

And I have to laugh sometimes at all these attacks against atheists, heretics, and other "unbelievers",as if christians are so convincing and so peaceful they dont need to resort to it.

As George Will said(one of the few ultraconseravtives who really is fair and balanced)Americans are more rhetorically conservative than they are in practice, and the fastest growing religion in the US(besides Islam) is the state of "none".There are two and a half times more non-religious Americans now than there was in 1990.

Why cant Rick Santorum be president, for that matter?
Hell, even Bush has the occasional drink or swear word,at least.

You answered your own question. He's a nut case ultra Christian who's first loyalty is to his own personal spin on Christian dogma. Electing him would be a far greater disaster than the election of Bush ever was.

Keyes is the perfect speaker of the bunch. he's the most useful to hearken to in debates. it truly is significant because the Republican debates are attending to be genuine yawners. yet Keyes' techniques are downright kooky. Like Ron Paul, seeing that he would not have a snowball's probability in hell he can only indulge himself in declaring kooky issues. He talks like a verbal replace radio host, compared to a candidate for president. Do you imagine Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh can make a sturdy candidate?

I've heard him speak on several occasions. He's brilliant. I think he would be an excellent president. But he doesn't have a chance because he would run as a Republican, and Republican blacks are smeared mercilessly by the left.

For me at least. I can't put my finger on it, but something about him says No, I don't want him as president. He is very bright and intelligent, and I agree with some things. I just can't see him in the White House. I don't know what it is.

We do not need a Bible Nazi in the White House. BIBLE NAZI - A fundamentalist christian who thinks it is a violation of their rights if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down my throat

I'd vote for him given the chance. Last time, he withdrew before I had the opportunity.

I voted for him in the 2000 primaries. But he's gone waaaaaaaaay over the edge since then.
