I'm speaking of the Viet Nam war here. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Can anyone tell me what was so tragic about pulling out of Viet Nam prematurely? Is anyone here old enough to remember, or have parents that remember?

This wasn't meant as a sexual innuendo, lol, but I sure did enjoy the answers that made it as such. Love you guys. You made my night. Mwah!
So I would have chosen you as best answer, but unfortunately, three of you did the same thing, so I have to choose another path, lol.
But thank you everyone, for your answers. Especially the one from Wild Vibes. "Premature evacuation", LMAO.

I worked with a guy from S.Vietnam once. His family came over here in the 70s because they had helped the USA during the war = given citizenship. He said that he understand why the USA pulled out from Vietnam BUT that after we left, things not only got realy bad for them but they got a whole lot worse than before the war started.

It does not matter if we had stayed until 1985, the same result would have occured. The South Vietnamese did not want to fight, the North Vietnamese were determined to take the south. All that would have occured is the senseless deaths of another 50,000 US troops. Basically the same fate we face in Iraq.

the loss of thousands of men& women for absolutly no good reason. I'm 55 and never was drafted because I was fortunate enough to have a high lottery # And also, I personally lost 2 friends to that joke of a war. I could go on and tell u how it affected my life but hey, thats a whole other can of worms

Yes , they were overrun by the Viet-Cong and thousands were killed . But look at them today . They have settled their problems and are living peacefully now . Which is what would have happened , if we would have stayed out of it anyway . But we didn't and many of our fine young men were killed , thanks to our Large Corporations that wanted the war , in the first place .

truthfully, i in my opinion do not care. We shouldn't choose a president as a results of fact they are the "first" something, we'd desire to continuously choose them as a results of fact we predict of they're going to govern the country nicely. i think it particularly is valuable to have a woman or gay president, because it would cut lower back bigotry, yet that's not a reason to alter your vote, in case you question me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam_War This may give you some insight on the conflict. Who the supporters of North Vietnam was etc. Read it you may be surprised to see who really was allied against the USA. When the US pulled out of South Vietnam the North Vietnamese had no problems or hurdles to over come so they just moved in.

pulling out prematurely leaves all other parties feeling unsatisfied. the one(s) who did the premature pulling out (of troops) felt a little embarrassed right after for not being able to satisfy the needs of their partner (allies) but soon forgot about this shame due to the fact that they got theirs.

Well, first, we did not put our full effort into that war....that is why it lasted for about 21 years........well, a thriving south Vietnam, collapsed into a communist country, that is just now, after 30 years, starting to recover....but still poor, suffering, and communist

It's called "premature evacuation" and it always leads to and unfulfilled feeling for both sides.
