Didn't the Greeks warn us thoroughly of the dangerous of democracy and yet no one seems to have listened.

Good decisions require lots of information and experience, but most American are highly illiterate and have had no experiences beyond their private mundane, barely subsisting lives. Historians debate for centuries the causes and issues surrounding most of the major events of history, so how can a bunch of illiterates who love reality TV, make informed understanding decisions about events occuring in the present.

An older woman I work with, was recently explaining to me that the government needs to start enforcing birth control measures against people who shop in Walmart.

Why??? She hates Walmart and then also, all of the people in there are fat and ugly.

I am not joking. I wanted to slap her head into China, so she could see tyranny first hand.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!!

During a discussion about parenting between myself and some friends of mine, one of the other people told us that when her son was born she quit her job and got on food stamps and medicaid because she and her husband wanted her to be a stay at home mom. I think this is EXTREMELY irresponsible and told her so and the other people there seemed to disagree with me. Am I the only one who thinks that's leeching off the government?? If she wanted to be a stay at home mom they should have planned better before they got pregnant instead of relied on government assistance, shouldn't they??

Instead of executing a murderer for his crimes, wouldn't it be better if that felon was made to work a life sentence or more in order to support (financially) the families of the victims???? After all, if the hard-working father of a family of three were to be murdered, then his family has no way of getting any form of compensation or money in order to survive...Instead, the government kills the murderer and considers this justice, whereas the victims are not helped at all for the financial hardship they have to endure due to the tragedy. Maybe making the murderer "pay for his crime" literally would be better and justice would truly be served....

Since Israel declared war on Lebanon, all you see in the news all day - literally - are coverages about the " Middle East Crisis". All of a sudden the so called horrible war in Iraq lost all its coverage. The so called patriots on MSNBC, CNN, FOX ,that do nothing but preach that Afeghanistan's war is forgotten now have done the same to the iraq war . What the f-u-c--k!! I am a veteran and I worry about the war in Israel for many political reasons, but i rather follow up on what my country is achieving or not in its own war.

Why can't liberals get all of the facts on an issue and weigh their questions and answers carefully and logically, instead of hearing what they want to hear and responding visceraly?

And conversely, the killings, as well as the collective punishment that Israel’s siege has imposed on Gaza’s 1.4 million people, are clear violations of international law, which requires occupying powers to ensure the well-being of civilians under their control.

A co-worker of mine is the defendant in a small claims court case in Florida. She lost the case and was ordered to fill out an information sheet where she has to disclose all her personal info to the plaintiff. She did as instructed and received a "Order to Show Cause." The plaintiff is stating that she did not provide him with all the information. The Order to Show Cause order said that she needed to be at the hearing to show cause why she did not comply with the order. My friend is terrified that they are going to find her in contempt and put her in jail. She has never been in trouble in her life. She was told by different people that she could be held in contempt. She came to me for advice and I googled like crazy but nothing I could understand. Does anyone know what is the liklihood of her being found in contempt and jailed for a small claims case? I did look over the copy of the papers she sent to the plaintiff and they seemed complete to me..Any Advice?
