Instead of executing a murderer for his crimes, wouldn't it be better if that felon was made to work a life sentence or more in order to support (financially) the families of the victims???? After all, if the hard-working father of a family of three were to be murdered, then his family has no way of getting any form of compensation or money in order to survive...Instead, the government kills the murderer and considers this justice, whereas the victims are not helped at all for the financial hardship they have to endure due to the tragedy. Maybe making the murderer "pay for his crime" literally would be better and justice would truly be served....

Actually if the felon is locked up he cannot commit any crimes, except onto other inmates, but then again, he wouldn't be killing any "innocent" people. I think the felons can either chose to work in the prison to compensate their victims or chose to die, so that takes care of making them work... It's true that the compensation would be meager compared to the cost of feeding and housing these prisoners. However, I believe there are ways to make the compensation to the victims higher than the cost of maintaining prisons. Having the prisoners work in controlled factories for minimum wage could be one way of dealing with it, though resolving this is not the essence of the question. After all, where there is a will, there is a way...

I'm all in favor of abolishing the death penalty, but unfortunately your proposal does not work. Presumably the convicted murderer is in prison, so how exactly does he work to pay back the victims? Work in prison is compensated by only pennies a day. And if your proposal is to pay prisoners a decent wage while they are working in prison, that would be quite an expensive proposition. It would probably be cheaper for the government just to establish a fund for crime victims, or offer crime insurance.
Responding to your additional comment, your proposal starts to get more complicated and problematical the more you think about it. What you're suggesting starts to sound like the kind of forced labor camps that the Soviet Union used in Siberia. There are some moral issues with forced labor. There are also some serious political and economic issues, in that the unions are really not crazy about competition from forced labor.

I think that idea is stupid. An established father of three most likely makes way way more money than a felon could make from behind bars. You did not even mention that it takes money to maintain a prisoner in jail, most could not even earn enough to support the cost of jailing them. I think an eye for an eye!

i will ask why do you imagine the demise penalty would not artwork? Its ever not often utilized interior the US or perhaps even as does it takes 20-30 years before its finished after limitless petitions. For the demise Penalty to be sensible it must be a short deal the position someone who receives receives a million charm on the demise Penalty which will only seem at if their is any info or lack of to point a plausible wrongful conviction besides the actuality that if only 5% probability. Then its finished interior 6 months of the unique responsible verdict or faster. extra proper to bypass again to old techniques of demise Penalty along with electrocution or extra proper yet undemanding firing squad. It also may opt to coach somewhat extra open. Any aggravated homicide, rape, newborn rape, or hate homicide/rape. this can recommend those who commit homicide/rape in line of against the law or pre pondered. newborn rape may be only that any underage 15 or below. develop done. Capital Punishment works tremendous in international places that use it as meant. China operating example, it truly works tremendous as a deterrent. similar for most different international places. yet when we act like the convicted assassin / rapist nonetheless has rights to existence that is when we fail. notwithstanding yet another major incentive is going again to old college prisons. no extra television, workout rooms, activities, etc. You get a million mag or e book at a time plus the Bible/non secular faith e book (no longer in go with of the Bible yet that is regulation it is old college also). Then its chain gangs, quarry artwork, doing genuine genuine sh*t jobs. foodstuff is again crap and no man or woman supplies a damn in case you stay or die. Make reformatory a punishment and a scary position again and it ought to have far extra result, yet on the prompt reformatory is a lot extra proper then many undesirable have and they actually preferably be in reformatory.

you have a great point.
History has shown over and over again the death penalty doesn't deter crime, so why pay millions to execute someone when that money could have gone to the families, or better yet, to keep people from becoming murderers in the first place!

Not a bad Idea but all I will say is that 100% of all felons that are put to death never again commit a crime.

The "family of three" wont be children for life. Hopefully they'll grow up to be just as hard working as their murdered father. Or maybe they wont have to be if they've got a convicted murderer to pay all the bills. Sounds a bit like cruel/unusual punishment to me.
