I just got them and I have been told to feed them 3 crickets each once a day. But When doing research it says to feed them only every other day.

I have 2 yellow belly turtles. They have both slowed down on their eating. Does the change of the season have anything to do with this?

He is non-aggressive. I have had him for years but recently discovered that he will most likely out live me! I don't think I can care for him that long. I have no problems with him... just don't want to have a pet snake when I am 70! I am not trying to be insensitive...just don't know what to do

I had a green lizard in my home for about two months. It must have lived on little tiny black jumping spiders and drank water from the dog's bowl. It seemed quite happy, I didn't bother it and vice versa. Now it is gone ( and the little spders too) My question is do they hibernate? I haven't seen her for three days, could she be dead under the couch?
Sorry for sounding so wierd!

They used to be light grey, and now look reddish. I've seen pictures of adult Yellow Rat Snakes with the reddish eyes, but I can find nothing to say whether they change from grey to red as they get older.

I have a 125 gallon tank that I want to make partial land and water habitat for my red eared sliders. What would I use as a land substrate for them because I was told not to use sand because they will eat it. How deep should the water be. I now have it so it is about 9 inches deep with several high ereas so they can haul out and bask in different ereas of the tank.

I have three red eared sliders in a 125 gallon tank set up with 3 fluval 403 canister filters and I change the water aevery three days. But I have been noticing that my turtles are getting a slime coat on there shells. What can be causing this slime coat even though I take very good care of the tank and I make sure I change the water every couple of days.

I have a red eared turtle about 2 months old that I recently recieved from it's first owner.

(1.) How do you tell that the turtle is breathing?

(2.) It jerks every so often while on the basking rock(head goes up and down while front legs look as if is trying to push it self upwards), is that normal? What does it mean?

(3.)How do you treat swollen eyes?

(4.) How close should he be to the heat lamp?

Any suggestions on how to care for my new turtle would be greatly appreciated!! Thank You!
