The owner fails to understand why I do some of the things I do, in fact he thinks I am cruel. For example, I do not put my plate on the floor for him to lick up the scraps. I do however, give him scraps in his bowl if he will sit and wait for me to empty the dish in his bowl. Then he is premitted to enjoy his scraps. Further, I do not get balls of toliet paper and play with them with the dog, Can anyone tell me why I do not do these things. Am I being cruel or practical? The dog use to have a habit of stealing food and biting people for it and taking trash from the bathroom can and spreading it all over the floor, GEE, I can't imagine why I am changing so many things. THE ONLY thing I can't seem to change is his rotten owner. (Whom, by the way, the dog humps him. What does that tell you?) I will forward all of your responses for him to read. P.S. The rest of the family is doing a great job with the training.

She's biting at herself so much that she has chewed her fur off of one of her front legs and is working on the other. I don't see any fleas and have put on Frontline Plus twice in the last month. She is also scratching at herself almost constantly. Any thoughts on what I can try would be a help. I have tried sulfodene with no results.

We have a Husky, and up until he got sick 2 yrs ago (he's 13), we let him sleep outside, even in winter. He even slept in the snow! He had a large run and a fenced yard (Both were necessary, since he kep escaping and would get lost). People would come by and criticize us, saying he belonged inside! The stupid shelter wouldn't let us adopt a Malamute when we said he wouldn't be inside most of the day! Yet I could hear the poor Lab across the street, barking all day in a tiny apartment. I say, if they get plenty of exercise & affection, dogs can spend MUCH more time outside than people think. Any here agree?

I have aboxer and my in-laws have a lab that both fight each other from time to time. Neither of the two dogs are agressive towards humans or other animals.

The animal is constantly barking at people and chasing their cars, kids in the area are scared of this dog which is aloud to run around loose and fouls on the lawn in my garden and other peoples garden.
The owner is too arrogant to approach about this animal and just ignores her dog and will not contol him.
Also there is no Dog Warden in the area.
Please help!

My mom's dog is a mental case and she is moving into senior apartment housing and can't keep the dog. It's a german shephard with schitzo issues and she doesn't want to take a chance on someone adopting her from the pound and then mistreating it because it doesn't mind, it barks, etc. Also the dog has SUCH anxiety. So she just thinks she should let the dog go to sleep rather than take a chance on her switching owner after owner until someone keeps her.
What do you think? Will a vet do this?

Have owned dog for 3 years. Have had dog in two separate units within the same complex. No one has complained of dog in 1+ year of him living in this compelx. We suddenly received notice to have him removed within 1 day because he exceeds the "weight limit" as specified by the apartment complex. Need some sort of remedy or witty idea.

rescued a llapso apso a couple of weeks ago and he has a limp and the people I got it f rom states it is normal.
I do not think so. It turned out they did not bring the dog to a vet since he was born. Which he is 2 years old now the vet is still looking into it.

I have a mini(Barney) and a toy poodle(Fred) both little over a year. Barney is way to attached to Fred, that when Fred even leaves the room, Barney starts to cry and howl till he comes back. And there is no consoling him when Fred is gone. The truly funny thing thou is that Fred could care less about Barney if Barney leaves. Also there have been instances where Fred has injured himself... and Barney is constanlty buy his side whining and crying when he knows fred is hurt. It bothers Fred and he usual snaps at Barney making him cry and whine even more! Is there a way to help Barney get over this as I am going to start taking Fred to retirement homes and he will be gone alot somedays.... Thanks in advance

My indoor/outdoor black lab came in yesterday with her face just covered in tiny blue ticks. I spent about 2 hours picking them off of her, and still didn't get them all. I had my yard sprayed for ticks and fleas at the beginning of summer, but these are different and smaller than the brown and black ticks I've seen before. They seem to be really clustered around her eyes. I bathe my dog weekly. How can I safley and quickly rid her of these awful parasites? (She is allergic to flea & tick collars).

I have a 7 week old puggle (pug, beagle mix). She gives no warning before she goes to the bathroom. Is she too young to potty train? If not, how should I potty train?
