My indoor/outdoor black lab came in yesterday with her face just covered in tiny blue ticks. I spent about 2 hours picking them off of her, and still didn't get them all. I had my yard sprayed for ticks and fleas at the beginning of summer, but these are different and smaller than the brown and black ticks I've seen before. They seem to be really clustered around her eyes. I bathe my dog weekly. How can I safley and quickly rid her of these awful parasites? (She is allergic to flea & tick collars).

You should probably spray your yard again...what you sprayed with has probably worn off. We got a heavy rain a few weeks ago and my dog came in with ticks on her feet...she had never had fleas or ticks before. I gave her a good bath and we sprayed again. Haven't seen anymore ticks or fleas.

Your not supposed to bathe your dog weekly it could mess up their sking once a month is better and you should use frontline it prevents any ticks, fleas, or other insects from getting embedded in the dog's skin. Use tweezers to get rid of them but be careful around her eyes and if it gets really serious bring her to the vet.
Oh and if the tick is still stuck in their try using regular oil on the area first then remove it with tweezers. Whatever you do don't do that match thing or vaseline or whatever thats bad it could cause the tick to go deeper in the skin.
Good Luck!

Get K9 Advantix. It works for both ticks and fleas. It is applied once a month and works like a charm.

Dip a cotton ball in nail polish remover and touch the tick to loosen it. With the small ones, I wouldn't do the matchstick method, but that works too.

Ask your vet about Advantage, Program or REvolution. There is also the old safe insecticide powder, Sevin, that works well, but it is white, and somewhat mess...

You can try crisco around the eyes, sometimes it causes them to back out for air, ones that are not around the eyes try peppermint oil.
