My 9 month old puppy Zoe barks for no apparent reason. This morning at 6:30 a.m. she started barking. I looked out the window and saw nothing. She has 3 other sibblings to play with Bandit, Riley, and Bailey so I know she is not lonely. She is very friendly and tries to jump on me when I go out to play with her and feed her. Sometimes she starts at night with this nuisance barking and I am scared the neighbors are going to call the PD. I was told to try a collar that makes a sound that dogs can't stand which will sound off whenever the dog barks or a shock collar. I would never use a shock collar but what about the collar that makes a noise when they bark?

...with a single bout of diarrhea? And that it only happens with new carpeting? After a really stressful day at work? And even more stressful traffic?

I have a Golden Retriever/Chow mix female, she's about 3 years old now. We've adopted her from the SPCA when she was 1. She hates water, we took her to the aquatic center for an even called "Bark n Splash". There were a lot of dogs there and we were hoping it would cure her water shyness if she went and played with other dogs in the pools. It didn't work I even pulled her in and showed her it's fun, she didn't like it. So i'm still having problems, I like swimming and I want the dog to get exercise too, but she wont go swimming. Can anybody help?

I have a 4 year old Pommeranian who is now "marking" his territory everywhere! My house, outside, visitors homes, everywhere. This has been new in the last month or so. There have been no changes in his life as far as location, new people, new diet, nothing. How do I get him to stop?! I can take him out to pee every half hour, but he always has enough pee to mark. Any advice is welcomed! Thank you!

Its an adorable poodle, I have to bush him, clean him, play with him, walk him and keep him at my house for a little over 2 weeks. I'm not pet sitting for a friend (that I'd do for free) but for the people I babysit for. They're going on vacation and cant take the do. So how much should I tell them to pay me? I dont want to over charge them, and I dont want to get ripped off either.

Just wondering how many folks here who actually own a dog, checked into the breed that they own BEFORE they got it?
It's life span
It's known to have conditions
It's standards
It's care
etc
etc

How many folks actually took the time to learn something "all they could" about the dog they now own?

I KNOW I DID.

My friend's grandma wants to give away her black lab. She's maybe 1-2 yrs old. They also have 2 other dogs. To start off, this dog is kept in a 4x6 kennel 24/7 and she's never been on a leash. A few days ago, I took her out a few times to get her some exercise and she did very well on the leash. Anyway, they don't feed her enough. She's really skinny and lanky lookin' and you can easily see her ribs... I live in Louisiana, so she must have heartworms with all the mosquitos here... I feel really sorry for her and I like her. But would you consider it mean if I were to take her and give her exercise, food, and love for the years she has left. But we may not be able to afford her shots every year... Maybe rabies shots, but that's it... I would keep her in a 10x10 ft kennel, but would see her, feed her, and exercise her every day. I already have my own dog, and they like each other. We're getting my dog fixed soon. I really love animals, and I hate to see her like this. Should I take her?

He is a year old and loves to chew on everything. He eats okay and there is nothing unusual that he does. But for the past 2 weeks he dry heaves and every once in a while a clear to yellowish colored mucus will be thrown up. What could this be and should I worry?

Okay, say there is a dog that is in a hot car all day, no water, no window's open, about to pass out. You call the police, but for some reason they can't get there in a reasonable amount of time. You go ahead and smash the window. Is this against the law for breaking an entering or do you consider this heroic?

Sorry guys, but I am taing care of a dog for a truck driver in exchange for rent. The dog is hairy, stinks, and rules the entire house. She is super old, licks herself all the time, and lays in the middle of the doorway. She tries to get on MY couch and has already ruined it. She weighs 150lbs! She barks at me, my kittens, and anything that comes within a ten miles radius of the house, especially at night. She begs for food and eats cat poop.

The thing that kills me is how dog lovers compare dogs to humans. Come on! Give me a break! This owner would save his dog before he'd save a human infant. He is told me that, and compares her to my daughter. It is positively stupid.

Today is 98 degrees with 72% humidity. I am COVERED in black dog hair and sweat and the aroma of stank dog is in the air. I used to like dogs, but now I think I hate them.

What is the deal with dog lovers?
