Okay, say there is a dog that is in a hot car all day, no water, no window's open, about to pass out. You call the police, but for some reason they can't get there in a reasonable amount of time. You go ahead and smash the window. Is this against the law for breaking an entering or do you consider this heroic?

First call the police then I would break the window and I would tell the police that I was going to do it if they didn't hurry...... There are law's for animals... I would like to lock that person in a hot oven and never let him out , the jerk.............

Save the life, it does not matter what or whose life you save, if it was my dog I would not sue the person for breaking my car window, but then again I would not leave my dog in a hot car. I do not think it heroic rather the decent thing to do.

I would probably do it and be willing to pay for the window if it was pursued, but that would be tough for someone to win.

Best bet, call the police, tell them and ask for their suggestion, its best if you are sure that its been there for a length of time. As cruel as it is, if a person did walk in somewhere immediately before you saw it, picturing a dog passing out in 30 seconds and taking action probably will get you in trouble.

well, if you were to get into trouble for breaking into someones car for that, i would state your case because there is no reason that a dog should be left in that kind of heat for any amount of tI'me, that's like leaving a new born baby in the car, they cant help them self, they can just sit there and cry/whine. the owner of that poor dog should be in way more trouble for leaving the dog in the car then someone breaking into the car to save the anI'mal. worst case, i would go to a junk yard and say here's for the window, but I'm fighting for your dogs rights.i don't know what kind of person could leave an animal in the car like that. when im taking my cat to the vet i feel bad when its hot because i don't have air. as a matter of fact, i just got my male fixed it was so hot the day i went to pick him up, i made my bf come with me because his air works.any person who does that to an animal should see what it feels like, im glad you saved that dog, he/she doesn't deserve to be treated like that.

I would consider it heroic. But with today's legal system, you would have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you KNEW the animal was going to pass out and die.

Death to animal abusers!!

i would call the police and tell them. that might make them get there a little bit sooner.

its called tampering with a motor vehicle which you could be charged with.

but if the dog was dying, i would break the window to get him out and then take the dog to the vet and tell the vet everything. that way you are covering your own butt when the irate owner comes storming around.

Heroic... There are laws against that kind of unethical treatment.

If the owner doesn't like it, I'm more than happy to let them see how it feels to be in the same situation that they left their dog (cat, baby, etc...) in.

heroic, although to the owner of the dog it depends on whether he loves his car more or his dog more. however you can always have the car fixed you cannot bring the dog back to life after it is gone.
