My dog is a german shepard-rottie mix and is currently ten years old. She doesn't listen to any commands and doesn't know how to walk nicely without pulling my arm out of its socket. Please help me.

I've been looking into buying a puppy a long while now. Looking for small breed, suitable for 2 bd apartment. My husband and I both work though, the time the puppy would be left alone during the day would be up to 5 hours.. No kids, have a fenced in backyard as well. Any advice?

My dog is due on the 17th of July and she has fleas terribly. We have bathed her and washed her. But they are back. We cleaned out her pen and put fresh bedding in it but it doesn't seem to help. They are small black bugs and I am worried that they will harm her and her pups. I need advice fast. Every flea product I have looked at isn't safe for pregnant dogs. So what the heck am I supposed to do with the little devils? Please any and all advice will help me and Oreo.

I'm going crazy with all this black dog hair around my house. I don't just want to lessen it, I want it gone! But, of course, I don't want to get rid of the dog.

When I bring my dog in from the outside after her walk, she has a very strong doggie odor. I realize that she is a dog, and she will smell to a degree, but it is very strong right after her walk (and even worse if it is hot, humid and/or damp/raining outside). I saw at the pet store, they have all kinds of deodorizers, but they all seem to be a perfume that would simply mask the odor.

I was wondering if any one out there knows of a natural deodorizer that can be made at home? I read about a natural deodorant for people that is made of baking soda (natural deodorizer) and corn starch (supposedly healthier because it does not contain talc). I wonder if some thing like that could be used with dogs?

I prefer not to put chemicals on my dog or make her smell like a perfume factory!!

I did read about using a fabric softener sheet, but I have to wonder how good that is since dogs do lick their fur, and I would think that the chemicals could be ingested.

Anyone??

Someone just told me that if my puupies are born on the 59th day and not after the 60th day that I am unable to register them with AKC. Is this true? Anyone know?

I am leaving food in the gazeebo down at my pond and the dog is eating the food but if I even walk outside and it sees me it runs away. Don't even know how old it is. Also, I have a lab dog that stays in the house but happened to be outside when the stray dog showed up and my lab chased it, was afraid the stray wouldn't come back but it did the next day. Any suggestions on how I might be able to get close to this dog without it running away?

I have a dachshund and she is 6 months old. I know this is a good time to spay a dog, and my dad says he'll take her to the vet next month. I don't know how much it will cost or how long it will take. Also please tell me the pros. and cons. of spaying a dog.

I have a 8 month old male bassett hound who has a barking problem. We recently had him "fixed" and figured that may calm him down abit and maybe eliminate alot of the senseless barking. He barks when you leave him in a room alone. He is also very hyperactive. I always heard that bassett hounds were lazy dogs, so why is mine the complete opposite of lazy?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My stay-at-home wife wants a Pomeranian. I'm reluctant, as I'm sure it'll be a novelty that'll wear off in time. Is there much to looking after, so even a high maintenance wife like mine can do it?

I want to adopt another dog, currently we have one rather large sized hound/beagle mix, he is a great dog, and we adopted him from the humane society. My husband thinks it will be too much work getting another dog, and we have not had luck with dogs before our current dog. We had a golden retriever puppy that was the alfa female of her litter, and she did not like me getting anywhere near my husband or kids for that matter, so we gave her to friends, then we adopted a basset hound, and he was sweet, but he would pee on the couch and beds at every opportunity he had, we had to keep him in his crate like all the time, so we found him a new home, and then we adopted a cat from the shelter, and he died three months later of a kidney disease.....I can see why my husband is skeptical, but I love animals and can't stand to to think that so many are put to sleep everyday, just in San Antonio alone...Any suggestions?

I'm sixteen and my dad refuses to let me get a dog. I am very responsible. I have a rabbit that i take care of. I'm willing to pay for the dog with my own money and clean up after it. I have nothing to do over the summer and I am at my house alone much of the time. We have a good sized house, and a very large yard. Also we've owned dogs before, but they died about five years ago. I really want a dog more than anything.

she was found in a puppie mill and I got her from the lady that rescued her. She wants nothing to do with me and if she has an accident in the house and I pick her up to take her outside the dog yelps and acts like she is going to be whipped and she has not learned in a week any trust at all. She also will pee when picked up. The dog doesn't want to play or be loved on by me and just acts afraid when I try to pet or play with her. I hate to return her but I don't know what else to do.
