If your dog's Sire and Dam are AKC registered, the Breeder should have given you a form to fill out to be sent to AKC. If you bought the dog from a pet store, then they should have provided you with AKC papers. If the Dam and Sire are AKC and you didn't get the papers.. See if you can contact the breeder for their Registered names, you can contact AKC with those names and have your pet registered. If the Dam and Sire were not registered, I'm sorry but I don't think your dog can be.

Go to Http://www.AKC.org to look up their policy on registering.

You have to have proof of the lineage. You need copies of the AKC papers from both parents and usually the pup's birth certificate or litter papers. Although, I don't know why the pups wouldn't be registered as a litter, but it happens.

your dog must be purebred and its parents must be registered in the AKC

MUST be AKC (FULL) registered parents(OF THE SAME BREED!!!!). Breeder MUST apply for litter reg. & buyer MUST apply for individual reg.,using that litter reg. form.

HIS PARENTS HAVE TO BE AKC. THEN HE WILL BE AKC.
