Young pups don't shed, but she will when she's older. Short haired dogs will shed a lot all year round. Make sure you are feeding a good quality food that is "nutritionally complete." I like Nutro - it has no "by products" and is reasonably priced. Have your vet check for intestinal worms - they can cause excessive shedding. Don't bathe her too often - no more than once every six months unless she's rolled in something. When you do, use cool water. Warm or hot water baths make them shed more. Also, get shedding blade from the pet store - it's a mini version of the kind they use on horses. That will take out a lot of the loose hair. Other than that, get a Dyson vacuum!

And since this dog has Chow and Mastiff in her, you'd better start training right away!! Both breeds can be stubborn and aggressive. Read some great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com

Try combing your dog with a metal grooming comb, if there is loose hair, it will come out.

Chows will matt up terribly and depending on your dogs coat, the hair could just be clumping up at the roots.

About this time next year you will probably be wishing that she wasn't shedding. She still has her puppy coat which doesn't shed much. By this time next year she should have all her adult coat in, which will shed MUCH MUCH more!
