I have a 5yr old black lab/chow mix. He has been our "baby" for the last 5 years. Last night, my husband tried to bring him in from outside. He is very stubborn and didn't want to come in. He growled, but my husband still reached for his collar. He snapped and bit my husbands lower lip pretty bad (needed stiches). We are going to have our first baby in a few weeks. What should I do with him. My head says get rid of him, but my heart breaks everytime I think of it. Who should I talk to? Would my next step be to try to have him go to obedience training? I am sooo confused!

my male staff is demanding sooooo much attention we dont go out very often yet whislt we are in the dog either sits by our feet if i go upstairs he follows and is always near by whether we are i wondered if this was normal for a staff is it just a staffs behaviour? he,s also very jealous if i call the cat he,ll push the cat out of the way and come instead he,s even knocked a hot cup of coffee over so he could have the attention instead its not as if he dont get enough either as i said we rarly go out and are always stroking the dog and giving him kisses and talking to him/playing with him so is this normal behaviour for a staff? he also grunts a lot too and sounds more like a pig than a dog

I have a short haired Jack Russell Terrier. Will long periods of sun exposure cause sunburn? (1-2 hrs)? If so can I use regular sunscreen or is there something special for dogs?

My vet is closed today and I didn't get an answering service. Should I worry about going to an emergency vet or wait a couple of days. We gave him 1/2 a benedryl last night and the other half this morning. We also bathed him with medicated dog shampoo this morning. None of this seems to have helped.

My dog, Ike is a Keeshond mix. He's a wonderful dog, very smart...but he hates everyone except me and my husband. I take him for walk around the neighborhood and if someone comes over to talk to me or to try and pet him, he growls at them. (He does like other dogs, however.) It's embarrassing and I feel like people believe I am mistreating him. How do I get him to be more social?

Or do people just say that to make you pay more? I've been around a few yorkies and none of them have been the 3 1/2 lbs that breeders advertise. thanks
