Nothing to do with peeing......

2007-06-07 06:15:41 · 13 answers · asked by *Kathy* 2 in Dogs

Seriously, anyone ever incubated a bird egg with a homemade incubator?

I only ask this cause I made a homemade incubator once, using a plastic box, a heating pad and some towels. I tested it out and it works pretty well only now I want to try it out on a fertile egg , which I plan got from a friend.

And yes, I did my homework on incbating and hand raisng pigeons from day one, I did about a year and a half research, so I've gt a orugh idea of what expect.

NO ridicalous answers please!

thanks!

For the last few months I have been dog sitting. The dog I am looking after is as good as gold.

However a few weeks ago he was a little bugger.
Why did he behave like this? Obviously he didn't say to himself 'I am going to play up today'

Is it something to do with his hormones or what?

Answers appreciated.

In a previous question, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhN3wXHHov1zatZnFyiNdl7ty6IX?qid=20070603092501AAeKZVi
I asked about a horse that I wanted to lease for the summer.
The lease is only $100 a month, My parents are still complaining about the cost and saying they won't pay for it even though I have offered many options to get around it.
a) I would be cleaning stalls to get the lease down to only $80 a month
b) Only for the summer months
c) I offered to sell my american girl dolls which would round up a large portion of the cost.

They still come up with more and more excuses of how its too expensive, and they won't let me sell my dolls even though all they are going to do is sit in the bottom of my closet and get lost or damaged.

Please help!

I see this question a lot on Yahoo Answers. Someone on another forum I visit posted this chart. It's a very straight-forward way to see if YOUR dog should be bred, or if you should get it spayed/neutered.

We have installed a pond in our garden last month and at first, a few fish have been left a few cm away from the pond, with some sort of claw (i think) markings in the mornings. Since then, we have been closing the pond every night with a hard and heavy plastic lid but now fish are disapearing in the morning!
I was told it might have been a herion but i have never seen one in my neighbourhood and i have no idea what the creature could be and how to stop it. It really confuses me, as it seems impossible for any creature to have had lifted the lid and put it back however some of the fish might have been taken very sneakily during the day when the lid is not on.
Also, recently i have found that one of my gloves was burried overnight in the soil..
Please help!

OK all you trainers / dog showers out there, I've got a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I'm entering my smooth collie puppy in a couple of outdoor shows in a couple of days. I use a martingale/limited-slip (AKA greyhound) collar and a nylon leash. I'd like to know if there are any restrictions to using these, or will I have use a slip-type (I.e. choker) collar?

Ok, let me explain. I have a beagle now, but he belongs to my sister, and she's moving out. My son is great with him, and the beagle is great with my son. Of course, we care for the beagle, and make sure my son doesn't mistreat him. I'm an animal lover, and can't tolerate people who own pets, but don't take care of them. This beagle even had insurance, so he's very well taken care of. Problem with the beagle is that he too sheds a lot, and he's way too spoiled; he never was fully potty trained. (Our fault of course...comes with having to live in apartments and working all day) I'm looking for a smaller dog now for my son to have that kind of companionship.

This is the first time we've tried breeding, so we're learning as we go along. The male ["Blue 2"] and female ["Red"] seemed to be getting along famously when introduced into the same tank--they ate together, flared/swam together, and the bubble nest and striping were complete.

They seemed to be practicing/getting into the right position for an embrace at the end of the work day yesterday. [Yes, they're office bettas!] Upon inspection this morning, Red [the female] has tattered fins, Blue 2 [the male] is fine--but the bubble nest is gone!

Please help!

I am getting a GSD pup this fall. I've opted for a DDR line, as I like the look of these the best. I'm working with a breeder. I'd like some opinions and information from other knowledgable owners, breeders and trainers of GSDs on the different types, such as Czech, DDR and West German. What are the qualities of each? I'm looking for a dog to be primarily a companion, with some agility and possibly therapy work down the road. I have plenty of time and space for it, it will be our only dog. I have a lot of dog experience, but this will be my first shepherd. I am not interested at all American lines.
Thanks!

Ok,, I have 3 cats. My problem is w/one of them. His name is Jessie and he is a 13 year old INSIDE cat. He has been his whole life. He was fixed as a kitten but suddenly started spraying a little this year when we would take him out. My husband and I take all of them outside once in a while but they are watched and contained. Anyway, he got out of the house by accident 2 weeks ago. He was gone for 2 whole night and finally came home on his own. This was the 3rd time he snuck out but it was never for this long. Now he is going nuts. He does nothing but cry by both the front and deck doors and does everything he can to escape. He does this from the time we get home from work till we go to bed. Everytime we get up and go to another room, he thinks one of us is going outside and runs to the door. He doesn't seem the same at all. He is acting nasty and seems to be going, borderline, insane. We are at our wits end and I do not know what to do about it? Please help!

Just like declawing, I would never do this to a cat. However, I saw one being shaved in Pet Smart and asked about it. They said people do it all the time to "keep the cat cool". I asked my vet and people from the SPCA who all said "no way" that it is not really good for them. They have gotten along just fine the way they are for thousands and thousands of years without being shaved. I have four long haired cats who always seem to find the coolest place in the house during the summer and are not uncomfortable at all.

The cat at Pet Smart was amazingly calm while undergoing this but afterwards I was embarrassed for him. He has a poofy head and poof on the end of his tail and that was it. I hope they don't let him outside, he'll get sunburned.
