I see this question a lot on Yahoo Answers. Someone on another forum I visit posted this chart. It's a very straight-forward way to see if YOUR dog should be bred, or if you should get it spayed/neutered.

i have a bulldog with breeding quality (we was on dog shows in germany and she qualified for breeding )But then we (including my doggie )moved to the USA . And i see all this dogs in the shelters and we all know usa has killing shelters (in germany is forbidden to kill a dog if it is healthy even nobody adopts it). And after i saw this and all this animal cruelty i decided not to breed her because i could not sleep if something like that happens to "my " puppies . in fact i also deceided that my roxy will be the last dog that i bought by a breeder ,my next dogs will all be from the shelter.

i think nobody should breed any dogsbreeds if the there are to much in the shelters (german shepherd , labs , golden and last but not least pitbulls)

sorry my english sucks big time but i just moved here from germany . i love that chart and i hope it helps some ppl who think just because their dog is cute or purebred they need to breed it.

absolutely not! There are to many dogs that are not wanted.
As much as I love dogs and would like to breed, I cannot see doing that when I know there are many, many dogs that are unwanted. I really feel if you want a dog, adopt one. You will feel good giving an unwanted dog a loving home.

That chart makes me happy.

People don't realize that getting their dogs spayed or nuetered increases their quality of life.
When a male is nuetered, he looses much of his aggression, the "need" to mark, and are much easier to train (they don't care as much about being top dog in the pack).

When a female is left unspayed, she has the likelyhood of getting uterian tumors. These tumors are painful and in most cases result in early death.

The facts for spaying and nuetering are just that. Facts.
The facts for keeping your dog "intack" are opinions and feelings of people. Look it up, maybe you'll like what you see.

I LOVE IT!

all my muttlies are fixed...should i ever happen upon a purebreed it'll be fixed also. working in a shelter opens ones eyes to the fact of poor breeding...and having mutts fixed. plainly over breeding...and seeing nice dogs get put done for the reason of not enough homes or for the color of their coat...cats to for that matter!

any who i love it...its to the point. and what most on here think how breeding should be done. thanks...oh and i copied it! so i can post it else where....hope ya don't mind!....i'm thinking not.

Unless you are a pro don't breed your dog. Backyard breeding is not cool. The money might look good but be fair to the dog, they die sooner if you breed them.

That is wonderful! I have your picture saved. I hope you don;t mind. There are a lot of wannabe back yard breeders on my Chihuahua groups. I sure would love to share this if you don;t mind.

This is one of the best posts I have seen on breeding on Yahoo Answers.

you should really only breed your dogs if ur ready for what will happen...there will be some blood, yelps, screeches..and of corse the puppies will wake you up at night...its almost like having 7 or 8 babies at once..

LOVE IT.

Unfortunately, the people who need to see it the most are the ones who are too stupid to "get it" and who will breed their dogs anyway.
