I'm going to give you the same advice I just gave someone else who was asking about naming dogs:
I think a dog name should be meaningful to its owner. I would recommend looking at favourite literature and movies, authors or artists, or even places for a name. For some examples:
My neighbour has a black shepherd-mix whom she named "Chip" after her favourite food, potato chips. My own dog, a 70-pound lab-shepherd mix is named Scout, after the narrator in my favourite book, To Kill a Mockingbird. When she was 2, she even had a bad run-in with some mockingbirds. It was like a sign.
The dog we had prior to Scout was a collie-mix named "Taj." When my dad was growing up, there was a big house on a street near him (Merrimack), which he and his friends nicknamed the Taj Merrimack after the Taj Mahal. The dog Taj was named after the Taj Merrimack.
So my advice to you would be to put some good thought into it to make it a special name. Anyone can name a dog Max or Fido, but you can give it a truly unique name. Even if it is Max, maybe it could be because you read a book where your favourite character was named Max.
