I'm going to Colombia on Sunday and staying there for 2 months without my dog =(...she seems a little sad today. Could she know I'm leaving her?? Is there anything I could do to make her feel better?

I'm sure she knows something is up if you're packing and getting ready for your trip. My suggestion is go on as if nothing different is happening. Don't give her any special attention and when you return (I'm sure you're going to miss her greatly) don't make to big of deal about it.

Why? - Because if you start accenting your departures and arrivals you can ignite seperation anxiety in the dog. Symptoms can include excessive barking while you're away, deficating and urinating in the house and/or tearing up your items.

She'll be fine for the time you're away. Go on about your day as if nothing is different.

Have a great trip.

I'm certain she knows something is amiss. Dogs are very astute. But as has been said already, try not to make a big deal of it. It can only lead to problems down the road.

Things that might make it easier on her;

If at all possible leave her with someone she is already familiar with and if feasible have them stay at your house while you are gone or at least spend some time there from time to time. It will ease her frustration in trying to figure out why things have changed drastically.
If she is to stay somewhere else, take as much of her things as is feasible, bedding toys etc... Again having familiar things with her will ease her anxiety.
10-15 minutes before you are to leave give her a raw bone, a Kong filled with peanut butter or something that will occupy her attention for an extended period of time. This is so she won't be immediately aware you have gone and it won't be as abrupt.

I know this sounds a little silly but dogs are a lot smarter and a lot more aware than most people give them credit for.

A Dog Sits Waiting
by Kathy Flood
A dog sits waiting in the cold
autumn sun.
Too faithful to leave, too
frightened to run.
He's been here for days now
with nothing to do
But sit by the road, waiting for
you.
He can't understand why you

left him that day.
He thought you and he were
stopping to play.
He's sure you'll come back, and
that's why he stays.
How long will he suffer? How
many more days?
His legs have grown weak, his
throat's parched and dry.
He's sick now from hunger and
falls, with a sigh.
He lays down his head and
closes his eyes.
I wish you could see how a
waiting dog dies.

Only leave a piece of clothing with your scent if you're prepared to have that piece of clothing torn up. If she expreiences separation anxiety, she may begin acting out, including excessive chewing on your clothing.

They usually do sence something is going on. Do NOT make a big fuss saying bye to her. Put your luggage in your vehicle a couple of hours before you leave and then just act normal.

If you've been packing and doing different things around the house she might have picked up on your different routine. However, no, she doesn't know you're leaving.
