I am getting a doberman puppy in a couple months. I keep reading how incredibly hyper they are and it makes me think back to the Jack Russell Terrier that we watched for a short time that was absolutely insane. He was in his own little hyper world and was to insane to learn simple commands or be disciplined. When they say dobermans are hyper are they comparable to the jack russell terrier kind of hyper?

Recently, I noticed my puppy showing signs of weakness and her eyes, which were usually a grey colour, now are of a yellow colour. That was a sign for me that she was sick. Her gums are also of a pale yellow colour. She was always vibrant and ate quickly but now its the total opposite. I went to the vet and all these people could of said was that they don't know what really happened and is unable to give any explanation. Can anyone give me some possible reasons to any of her signs and can provide something that I can do to help her.

He's very sweet and not aggressive at all. He gets a lot of attention at home. Don't want to hit him or hurt him but today we were playing with his rope toy and he jumped up and bit me in the forehead. He didn't mean to but it hurt! Anytime you play with him he tries to bite your hands or your feet. He will often bite on your clothing. Usually it doesn't hurt and he doesn't growl or act like he's attacking you, just sort of tugging on you. He has LOTS of toys and lots of space. Any ideas? I really don't have the time or money for training right now and I've never raised a dog before.

My shetland pony is an escape artist, and for the last few days I have been doing some serious changes to the pasture he is kept in. there is now 6 wire, barb-ed wire, and boards all around the pasture and the other horses are fine. I don't want to keep him locked up in the small 10x10 corral which keeps him fine and he cannot escape. just this morning he escaped out of the pasture I just put barb wire in. He just walks right through it, literally, he sticks his head through and lifts his knees up and jumps throught it unscathed. I also don't want to tie him up because my nana has had horses choke themselves to death while being tied up.

My 3 month old kitten is extremely headstrong (was raised by hand and dosnt respond to a lot of motherly actions that the vet recommended). She uses her claws for most everything she does. I have tried training her using a waterbottle and treats for when she does bad, or good things. I have even gone as far as bopping her on the nose to find out she finds that as a personal insult and starts playing harder.

However, she dosnt mind the waterbottle at all, and it dosnt deter her from biting and clawing when she plays (and sometimes, may likewise encourage her). Treats when she is properly playing causes her to actually become extremely excited and can start her clawing.

She may be becoming anti-social as well, since I dont let people play with her much, due to the fact that she leaves some pretty nasty scratches. Anyone have any advice on this perplexing situation?

Is owning a pit bull with young children and a toddler safe? The yard is small, they own a much smaller chihuahua mix as well as a cat. Should there be concern if the pit bull is a purebred? Or is it true that only mixed breed pit bulls are giving purebreds a bad name?

On December 11th, our beloved two-year-old kitty (Chase) sustained major jaw and tongue damage, apparently as a result of a car accident. His tongue quickly became infected and required three surgeries. As a result of the surgeries, he now has only about half of his tongue.

Because of his compromised tongue and his broken jaw, Chase is unable to eat on his own. (We're feeding him several times per day through a feeding tube.) He can move his jaw, but it is badly misaligned. His two (!) orthopedic surgeons are recommending that his jaw be repositioned and wired shut, which will cause him an enormous amount of discomfort and distress. We're wondering if he is ever going to be able to eat on his own or if he will require a feeding tube for the rest of his life.

Do you know of any cats who were able to eat on their own with just 50-60% of their tongues?

Thanks.

I just bought a new betta fish and I feel bad because if I go out at night then he is in the dark all night. I also am trying to figure out how to get him to eat because I will drop his pellets of food at the top of his tank and he won't come get it and they will sink to the bottom so I tried tapping on the side and he won't come still so it sinks to the bottom into the rocks. Should I continue to put more pellets in there until I see him eat them or should I just assume that he can reach them on the rocks at the bottom?

I can take this puppy out and, as soon as hes done from outside he will come in,then he wait 15 mins and, goes on the carpet. What do I do? I really do'nt want to rub his nose in it, or spank him. I really just need some advice so I can have the best puppy for me. If this ploblem doesn't stop I will have to put him outside for good, and I really don't want to do that. I really love my animals, and I know they love me. But enough is enough, and it's time for me to take control ,and I don't know how to. So I am begging please send me a angel or a really good solution.
