I have a 2 1/2 old puppy.. I had a dog when I was younger. who never dugs holes well at least as I can remember. Why do dogs dig holes? and is it ok for them to eat their own phooh?

well its okay that dogs and puppies do digging holes on the ground but you should be care ful and watch them not to eat or chewing on something that can cause chokening or harm them that they dont repose to have in their mouths. well some dogs does like to digs maybe they hear sounds or they like to get dirting to have fun and can also be that its so hot out side that digging a hole under the ground can help their body temper to cool down too. no, itsn ot good that they should eatting their own poops thats wouldnt sound right having them eatting that . if you see them doig that you should try gave them treats or dogs toys to play with out side. if theyre hungery beingin out side then you should leave some foods and water if they want to eat .

Sometimes they are bored. Be sure it is getting enough exercise (walks twice a day) and toys outside. If you cannot break it of this habit, create an appropriate place for it to dig. Like it's own garden area. About eating pooh.....they sell a product that you can get from your vet called Forbid. You put it in their food and it makes their pooh taste bad to help discourage it. Some dogs dig hole because it is simply in their nature. In the past dogs were used as herders, and rat catchers. Maybe the dog is full filling his natural destiny. LOL, maybe he just likes digging. Its not OK for the dog to eat any one pooh! Pooh is waste the body is trying to be rid of.

my vet told me that some dogs dig because they are bored. have you been taking it for a walk everyday? no, poop is not bad for them but, it's not good for them either. they will stop when they are older. until then just keep an eye on your dog when you let it out, and clean up the poop after he's finished.

sounds like a normal puppy there is stuff you can feed them so there poop isnt so inticing lol yuck they sale it at petsamrt
